Also, retailers in all sorts of industries are *PAID* by the manufacturer to advertise their products. Maybe Mackie decided it didn't need to go to that expense, and MF decided it wasn't going to give Mackie the ad space for free.
Furthermore, some manufacturers price their products in a way that allows the retailer to get a higher profit margin. It may be that Tracktion doesn't have a very good margin, and if that's so, then why would MF devote ad space to a product that don't make much money on?
I'm sure there are valid grounds (ex service, quality, etc) to criticize MF on. However, they are making money at selling this stuff, and you (and I) are not. Given that fact, I wouldn't assume that you (or I) know better than they do.

having a ad in the close-out portion of the mailed catalog seems to be a more prominate placement than folks are giving credit for, as these pages at the begining and end of the catalog are the most viewed thus a better placement for greater sales

Let's not forget the lead time required to include a new product in a catalog like that. The pages were likely laid out for publishing before T2 was actually available, so they could send them to the printer, proof them, get the catalogs back, mail them out, blah blah... Probably easier to edit the cover features than the whole book.
On the Overall Importance Of Things Meter, though, I think this rates about a 2 anyways. Only thing I ever used the MF catalog for is bathroom reading.
