i know squids gives a good pitch because he got me to buy Sonic Synth 1 when I was in first year university(age 19) and had absolutely no money. but i was on the phone with the guy and he had me believing this was going to be the best tool for my music... and it was no lie!!!
I basically starved to death for like a month after. It was so worth it though.

yeah from what i remember even the floor beneath the pedals in AT2 was a very nice wood finish like you are in a rockstar's mansion.

Squids what level guitar player would you classify yourself as? did you ever take lessons or anything?

and my guess is The Breakfast Club but i'm probably wrong that isnt my generation
What level of guitar player? Just above "crap" level. Just kidding. I play enough to be able to write. But, for most parts I would use a great guitar player or sometimes fake it on the keyboard. I actually have a Digitar also which I could pull out if I needed a little help with keyboard guitar.

The reason I have guitar amps, stomp boxes and a Strat, Tele, Dano and a few others is because (besides the fact that I like to collect cool instruments) if you want to produce a piece of music those sounds may be called for. Some things you can sometimes rent as well but it is hard to find good vintage pedals for rent. Having faithful recreations in software is a nice shortcut to get a certain sound. The real thing may still be a bit better. It can also be worse. My Fuzzface sounds awesome but it is also noisy and picks up radio stations!!!!! The Fuzzface model in AmpliTube 2 which was based on my very own Fuzzface sounds almost exactly like it minus the radio station and noisy interference. So, oddly enough that is quite an IMPROVEMENT!

well i think AT2 (and 1) is a great solution for guitarists cause the cost buying good pedals really adds up. not to mention the cost of having a good amplifier itself is a lot of money. one good amp will run you between 500 and a grand, and you just get one amp with that purchase.

then you realize that the really good pedals/amps are the vintage ones, and no one wants to part with them for cheap on the used market.

I used to want a hughes and kettner Rotosphere cause Charlie Hunter told me that's the secret to his organ-y guitar tone. then i looked at the price of it and

the reason i like using Amplitube so much is because i can go back and change my whole amp and tone settings after i record, which cant be done with those hardware amp sims. it's one of the reasons i hate recording guitar in general, what if i want to change the tempo of my piece? it aint easy. therefore guitar comes in at the very end of my songwriting process which sucks cause i would like it to come in earlier. amplitube does ease the pain of it all though i must say.

I was in absolute shock to see the new amplitube at this past winter namm. i just didnt expect it. jeez and I were dancing around at how great this was.

Now that I got AT1 and the UAD-1 amp Nigel, I should unpack my Telecaster. Haven't touched it for 1 year now, stayed with acoustic guitar only.
nigel was only used to torture my drums, so far. :hihi:
AT1 must be veeery good for that, too. :D

Dancing? The only dancing I remember was that cute Asian girl at the Ilio booth.

Seriously, I was pretty surprised and excited because AT1 is still duking it out for the top spot. Of course it's subjective and everyone's personal preference will be different, but the debates are always Amplitube vs this or Amplitube vs that. It's 2005 and it's still fighting for top place. AT2 is going to be killer. Killer.

Personally I love Amplitube because it sounds exactly like an amp that's been recorded to CD. Instant CD sound. I've tried other amp sims and most of them seem like they're trying to make your studio monitors sound like a guitar amp. It's more impressive immediately, until you try to use them in a project and realise that it sounds wrong and it's impossible to mix. I plug Amplitube on and it always sounds right. Every time.

Hey Squids,
I met to tell you for some time that I like the advertisement in recent magazines with you along Yamaha Motif, Cubase SX and SonicSynth 2. Looks good. Now we all know how you look like :)

you people...i am always shaking my head in disbelief when i hear the raving about guitar amp plugins on kvr.
honestly i think amplitube sounds like shit.
for different reasons i'm not using the real thing either, but podxt/vetta instead.
everytime i give amplitube/guitarrig another look i am shocked how weak they sound.
very strange because when it comes to vsti's and other plugins i'm usually not swimming against the kvr stream.

Yes, and there is a chance that those may even be introductory prices and it may go up (and in my opinion should for what you get). But, yeah, that upgrade price is a rediculous deal in my opinion. You get a whole new program for so little and you can keep the old one which sounds different. Those that took my advice to get AmpliTube 1 and then upgrade to AmpliTube 2 (for practically the difference in price) will be happy they did it I think. It's still not too late to go that route. It makes sense since AmpliTube 1 came down in price by $100. If you were going to get AmpliTube 2 anyway then it is like getting AmpliTube 1 for free (and it DOES sound and work differently... plus all the presets)
I just hope that the upgrade special price is for "old" A.T1 owners (like me :? )as well, and not limited to "new customers" (just in order to push now the soon-to-be-discontinued AT1 sales !)
Squids, please can you confirm that EVERY A.T owner will be entitled to this upgrade ?
It may sound obvious, but there is this saying, that obvious things go even better when clearly stated !

This coming from someone whose name is "plastic"? :o Just kidding. The guitar player in a band I play in uses the Vetta and I think that sounds like... well, not "shit" but I don't LOVE the sound. I think AmpliTube sounds better but my real love is AmpliTube 2. Honestly, it is in another league when it comes to amp modeling and processing than everything else and I mean EVERYTHING (except the real thing of course but as Mr. Tunes pointed out, the reality of prices for so much particular gear is outrageously high and then there is the very important - amp it in the mix flexibility that is so nice).

Yes! It is for EVERY AmpliTube 1 owner too! But, the only thing is that I think it will only be offered at that price for a limited time for the launch. So, you guys will have to be relatively quick. I would plan to get it say in September (even though it could be out sooner but the upgrade will be available at least through Sept/Oct). I say that only if some of you need to budget... of course the upgrade is only $149!!! So, not much to budget. Personally I think EVERY SINGLE AmpliTube 1 user NEEDS to get AmpliTube 2 upgrade. NEEDS. No question about it. It is an absolute MUST. You know, I think there is also an upgrade path from AmpliTube 1 LE too. I am not sure how much. Maybe $299 or something but that is worth it too. You can still use both but getting ANYTHING off of the already great priced AT2 makes it that much more worthwhile. Even cheaper than that on www.esoundz.com or most IK dealers of course.

Count me in! Can we go through Sonicreality to buy the upgrade?

the only way to get that "Les Paul plugged into an Orange" sound is by plugging in a Les Paul into an Orange.

After trying many many many amp sims, I am convinced of this.

I think they have nailed the analog synth sim pretty well but I think they are still pretty far from simulating an actual tube amp.

I will say, though, ...at this point, amplitube does overdriven sounds the best.

When I hear people say that an amp sim is just as good as the real thing I have to thing either A-that person has not played through too many actual tube amps or B-that person just doesn't want to mess with mic'n stuff up and has given in.

this is all just my opinion.

sure your opinions are always welcome. your choice of vocabulary here is a little harsh i must say, but there is a long list of pros that are well established in the biz who totally disagree with you. but hey it's a free world here at kvr you can say whatever you want
