Real time processing is impossible with a product that can shorter notes. Cannot travel to the future...
And how would you edit note by note ?![]()
As far as I can tell, you can only use rewire or their bridge
(unfortunately not included in the demo
Melodyne can host VSTs but not act as a VST plugin.

Once again...
How is it compared to rephrase, please ?

In my opinion, sound wise, it is way better then rephrase.Krakatau wrote:Once again...

Melodyne is a funny bird, on the one hand it is very easy to use, on the other every time I try to achieve something I get lost.
For example I have a note that simply needs to be deleted/muted and the previous note to be extended to it's time/space.
Sounds simple right? Well I could not do it so far.

HI
Being a rephrase user I would say having used the UNO demo yesterday that these are pretty complementry programs.
I think rephrase has WAY more control over the source material and really is in a world of its own in this department.
UNO is probably more 'instant' in it's use.
As far as quality of results is concerned I have never felt that Rephrase was anything other than top notch - I wonder where a comment like 'way better' comes from?
I assume you have used both extensively?
If you hit a note that is out of tune but extended in length how do you think a program can re pitch it and throw it BACK IN TIME?
It is pretty impossible to have a real time pitch correction app unless you are working with a relatively high degree of latency - so it is rocket science.
Porpoise.

rewire, shmewire - bridge, shmidge.
Bring out a VST/DX plug version, it's hardly rocket science.
so far this is the only app of it's kind, but i'm sure it won't enjoy this position forever. If another company develops something similar you can be sure it will be VST/DX flavoured.

The nature of Melodyne prevents it from being used directly as a VST/DX plugin. VST/DX plugins for the most part work in real-time by processing the incoming source signal. Melodyne is not an auto-tune pitch corrector. It allows you to graphically edit your performances...pitch, start time, note lengths, formant, amount of vibrato, all on a per-note basis. The Melodyne Bridge DirectX/VST plugin allows you to transfer audio from your host to Melodyne so it can perform its analysis and then allow you to graphically edit as I described above. The neat part is that after making your changes in Melodyne, you don't have to save the audio and reimport it to your host. It will automatically play the changes Melodyne made when you play your track in your sequencer....but from what I've read here, Melodyne Uno doesn't have the bridge or rewire?

I can't see the appeal in having a single track standalone pitch and timing editor. How can you compare against a sync'd up track? How would you know what you were doing? I know they want you to upgrade to the more expensive versions - is that all this is about?

The idea is to record your track in your usual host.greendoor wrote:I can't see the appeal in having a single track standalone pitch and timing editor. How can you compare against a sync'd up track? Then you launch melodyne load your vocal/instrument wav file and you fix the pitch/rythm problem.
Works beautifully on voice !
