I cannot recall ever seeing a band do an improvised arrangement of a song on stage. Ever.herr_prof wrote:Ive always wanted to be able to trigger my arrangements on the fly, but rather give them a little bit of the live feeling I get from playing an instrument in a band.
That is working on the assumption that the best version is the one on the album. That may be the case when its recorded but one would hope that it would evolve over time. Besides, what works best live is often not the same as what works best in the context of an album [unless its a live album]. And what your talking about is definitely something that could/should be addressed well before you step on stage. If I wanted the best version of a song, I could just as easily play over a vox down cd mix. I want to make a song breathe, and if I went to see a band perform a note for note perfect version of their song, I would be technically impressed, but a little let down over the lack of ... something.
