Heyyy this plugin is the bomb - Thank you a lot!
The timing couldn't have been better. I just got my first electric guitar and was too stingy to get a POD, V-AMP or any other of those kidneys so with boogex my practicing sounds a great deal better already :D

Aleksey, is this just me, or the emphasis filters work opposite than expected? i.e. boosting results into cutting and vice versa.

Maybe you´ve got your monitor upside down... .. .

can't wait to try it out! thank you!
It's better to burn out...than it is to um..to um...well, something, anyway...

yep, noticed it too...ya know, the wacky geetar players have it all backwards anyways..

Thanks, Aleksy. I hope you didn't take the criticism too personally. It's an uphill battle making DI sound good, so you're not alone in getting some criticism on it.

Thanks again,
Dave

Any chance of a pitch shifter from you, cost effective and better than those listed?

Best regards,

Spe3d

This means I've decided to release Boogex as freeware VST plug-in. This allowed to leave Beamsonic impulses in the internal impulse set (I remember reading Beamsonic's original Geocities website - he explicitly allowed non-commercial use of the impulses). I've also added impulses made by Aaron Carey (with his permission).
While I'm certainly extemely grateful for this unexpected bonus, I can't imagine there isn't some enterprising studio engineer out there with access to a great room, mics and amps who wouldn't give you exactly the sort of impulses that you could build a great audio engine upon. Perhaps as you further tangle with the ever-problematic amp simulation someone could provide you with this. (I don't mean problematic for myself: I still think Amplitube sounds good.)
This release version implements better dynamics - almost like in a real tube amp (beside tone, of course) - i.e. you can get that low frequency pumping - check out Metal and Chugga Chugga presets. But dynamics work best with Phase parameter at 0. With higher Phase dynamics get smoothed out.

I will continue studying this 'guitar amp' subject and if I ever find a better approach I'll release a commercial amp plug-in with a bunch of standard features (good-sounding chorus is already available, eh?). What also stopped me from going commercial is a lack of really good impulse responses sampled in a good room at different distances and angles.
Well, cheers, dude. This is a sweet gift.

Thanks, Aleksey! I can never run out of good amp sims to run drums, bass, and synth leads through.

Thank you again; I tried this last night and I'm gonna have fun with this one...

Thanx for this gift Alekesey. I also tried it last night. I think the pre and post EQs are great additions and can help achieve interresting results. The inclusion of the convolution based cab sims is also great and works flawlessly (minimal latency added, easy browsing, internal and external IRs).
However there are a few points that could be better. I am talking about the sound of the amp itself. It's not bad at all but it's not as realistic as in simulanalog plugins (the best ampsim at the moment IMHO). Some other minor concerns have to do with the scale used in the tone and drive buttons (lots of change towards the end of the scale).
Overall a very nice plugin that I will surely use in the future.
Thanx again.
If I go insane, please don't put your wires in my brain

akisd28, check the other Boogex thread for the answer.

Spe3D, I'm not considering making a pitch-shifter. I'm looking for a good algorithm, but pitch-shifter itself has too little applications. But as a part of harmonizer or vocal tuning process a good pitch-shifter can be useful.

zeoy, no, I do not think simulanalog plug-ins are THAT better - they just offer better dynamics and more 'brown' sound. But they can't beat shaping functions of Boogex. As you may have guessed I have released Boogex as a free plug-in exactly because of lack of the necessary feel in the amp section. So, there's no need to criticize it further since it's a free plug-in: otherwise it could be a commercial release.
