Behringer BCF2000 with T2

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and having done a search on the amazing bcf2000 controller, thought i'd chip in and hopefully get some info.

I'm using the T2 demo (awaiting my boxed version being delivered) and i use Cubase LE with the bcf2000 in mackie control emulation mode. This mode locks up tracktion and forces a crash, and this was seriously affecting my decision to get this great software, but then I tried the bcf in logic control mode, and lo and behold, it works beautifully for volume/pan and play/stop. You can mute/solo track and set tracks to record ready. However, I still need the mouse to undo/redo, record, etc.

Has anyone had a chance to work out what all the button and combos do in Logic mode or even better has anyone worked creating an overlay? I'm working through all the functoins but im real impatient (oh..and busy!!) so if anyone has alreadydoen this I'd be real apprecative, (as I'd like to use the mouse as little as possible). If not i should hopefully have something up over the next few weeks.

I'm working through all the functoins but im real impatient (oh..and busy!!) so if anyone has alreadydoen this I'd be real apprecative, (as I'd like to use the mouse as little as possible). I have this setup too, except I run mine in Sonar emulation mode. I read somewhere on this forum that it was supposed to work the best. Anyway, I haven't worked out all the keys, but I'll post what I know. Anyone else with a BCF, please add to this and maybe we can put together some documentation.



- Knobs (1) pan tracks when twisted. Not sure what clicking em does yet.
- Row 2 mutes tracks
- Row 3 selects the first filter for that track
- Faders (4) control track levels (of course)
- Button set 5 act as different "shift" keys, causing other buttons on the BCF to behave differently. I believe that holding button A of this set and pressing a button in row 2 will solo a track instead of mute. Not sure about the other shift functions.
- Preset < > buttons (7) control the bank. For example, if tracks 1-8 are selected, pressing the > button will select tracks 9-16. It's sometimes tough in Tracktion to tell which tracks are selected, but you can use the BCFview utility to give you an on-screen display of the track names.
- Button set 8 is as follows: a - Rewind, b - FF, c - Stop/Back to zero, d - Play

I'd love to have a full documentation of this, but as far as I know no one has done it yet. If you're a BCF user and choose to add to this thread, please include what emulation mode you're running.

Are there motorized faders on that thing, and if so are they supported in T2?

That's the best thing about it, besides the $200 price tag. I got mine from BPMmusic.com for $184, if anyone's looking to buy one.

I've finished a rough documentation of the BCF's functions within Tracktion while running in Sonar emulation mode. You can access it here.

Since nobody specified what OS they're running, I presume everyone is having success with the BCF under Windows?

Because under OSX, some time ago I spent 2 whole days trying different emulation modes with T2 and different ways setting it up, but I only managed to lock up Tracktion every time, or get no response at all. The BCF does work with all my other software though.

If anyone here *is* having success with OSX and T2 and the BCF, may I please ask - what version of OSX are they running (10.4.1?) and what firmware for the BCF they are running (1.07 or 1.10 ?), and, like, what's the procedure ?

I am running Windows, but it is a little tricky to set up so, so here are some things you'll want to check, just in case:

- Make sure the BCF is set to one of the USB modes. I think I run mine in mode 3, so the BCF midi is disabled and it's solely running USB.
- Make sure, in the "audio devices" setting on Tracktion, that the BCF shows up under your midi devices. Make sure it is enabled for both input and output.
- Under "external controllers", select "Mackie Control Universal" and then select "BCF2000 [01]" for both input and output.

If it still doesn't work, I hope someone with a Mac can help!

Thanks for that, igglebop. Yes, I've done those. And usually for me, everything goes fine until that last step - selecting e.g. the BCF2000 for input is OK, but then when I select for output, T2 just locks up. I've tried doing this in all sorts of ways, tried changing the order, different USB modes etc - but, no luck.

That's the problem I had with my StudioMix, but AFAIK there isn't a way to get it to work.

I put the BCF into Logic control and it worked fine. This may be a dumb question but have you upgraded the firmware of the bcf to 1.07? If so, swithcing the bcf to logic control should work like a charm (you're probably aware fo this, but just in case, turn the Bcf off, and hold down the button under the third rotary controller from the left, switch the bcf back on until LC shows on the display) . I get full feedback from the faders and everything... just dunno what ALL the buttons do.

That's it! Thanks goatboy, it's the logic control emulation that does the trick. I'd tried all the others but I guess Mac, Logic mode ... makes sense.

I'm not sure what all the buttons do now either - I've worked out play, pause, stop, etc. Still have to hit the 'R' key to record. But the faders and rotaries work, you've made my weekend! This has been driving me nuts ever since T2 was first released.

Now, BCF2000 + Kontrol49, I'm cooking with gas

Oh and Andrew, no latency issues for me with this controller. Excellent value for money, one day I might get another.

This'll probably be of no help, but have you tried play+record?

If memory serves - on the MCU it is necessary to hold down the play button whilst pressing record.
