Snapshot Automation

Does Tracktion have snapshot automation? Can you take a snapshot of all mixer settings, and have them available for pasting where you like, switch between them, paste on the fly, toggle between any number of mixes...that sort of thing?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Wow, that stinks...so is it all about drawing little dots?
Can you easily copy one section and paste it to another?
Is there an easy way at all to toggle between 2 mixes?
Are there plans at all for snapshot automation to be added (soon), or is this not important to anyone (ttoz is crying, so I guess it's as important to him as to me).
Cubase SX doesn't have it either...in fact, most DAWs don't seem to have it...Sonar kind of has it, and Pro Tools may have it.
I'm really puzzled by this, seems like such a basic thing for a DAW to do.
Thanks for the feedback.

Not really. Making a copy of an edit is the easiest alternative. Is there an easy way at all to toggle between 2 mixes?
No-one here will have any idea. The feature has been requested before. Are there plans at all for snapshot automation to be added (soon), or is this not important to anyone (ttoz is crying, so I guess it's as important to him as to me).
I guess the developers figure that saving different versions of an edit achieves much the same result, and as such the feature isn't a high priority.I'm really puzzled by this, seems like such a basic thing for a DAW to do.

Hmmm, if it were me, it would be priorty number 1.valley wrote:

Not just switching between complete mixes (I assume you mean "mix" when you say "edit", right? ), but the ability to paste, say, cho 1 automation to cho 2 automation with the press of a single button, and stuff like that.
No messing with little dots, or trying to record perfect fader moves with a mouse (or a real fader for that matter).
Just seems like a no-brainer to me.
Thanks.

the copying and pasting of automation works well in t2, more or less as you describe.
but if you niether want to perform your moves with a mouse nor by editing dots, how do you want to create them?
as far as snapshots though, I agree it would be great.

What would work for me would be this:semiquaver wrote:

I like working section by section...so, starting with, say, the first verse, play the verse so it's looping, than bring up the instruments to the volumes and pans that seem good. Stop playback, go to the beginning of the section. Press the "snapshot" button. Done.
No editing dots, no trying to record fader moves with a mouse one track at a time, trying to get the change in the right place, and if it's not, more dot editing...
Move to the next section, do the same...
Than, if, say, verse 2 is essentially the same as verse 1, go to the beginning of verse 2, press the button. Done.
Sure, you'd still probably want to do some editng of dots here and there, depending on what's in the song, maybe some more dynamic changes, but you'd be eliminating the bulk of dot placing, editing, moving, fader recording, and all that, which I find mind-numbing and exhausting after a while, especially if there are a lot of tracks.
Plus the advantage of trying out different mixes instantaneously.
I don't know, to me, it would make automizing the mix SO much easier and quicker.
Ah well...

I sooo have alwaz wanted snapshots in all the hosts that i use. none have it. Nuendo, ProTools, SX or Tracktion.
I hear that smaplitude has it though. I tried sams demo, it did not rewire with FL very well at all. (unless i missed something)

Hmm, guess i'm going to have to look through this board more to see what's lacking.AD80 wrote:For me its 1700th. But I do agree it would be cool.JPGR11 wrote:Hmmm, if it were me, it would be priorty number 1.valley wrote:

I was looking at some other thread about something else, and a Tracktion user was saying that Tracktion could do anything Cubase SX can do (Cubase can't do snapshots either, btw), so I was thinking Tracktion is pretty full featured (I'm only now getting familiar with it, trying to find the DAW that would suit me best, I like the general idea that Tracktion is supposed to be simple and straight forward and about making music, unlike so many other piles of software).
What (in a nutshell) are people wanting?

Yeah, I just found that out! Going to have to check in to that...I know it can take a snapshot of all the mixer settings, not sure how it relates to the automation...Samplitude may be the way to go (lot more expensive than tracktion, thoughsidhu wrote:

It seems to me to be a better use of time to figure out what YOU need in a host, and then making sure Tracktion has it. I could discover that Tracktion doesn't have clip-based automation (which it doesn't) and start thinking, "Gee, I need that!" due to the thread it's mentioned in. But I've never personally needed it (I know others who DO), so it's not worth worrying about for me. Better to make sure it has the features you do want and need. You'll find a dozen feature requests that will show what Tracktion is "lacking" compared to other hosts, but they don't always mention what other hosts are lacking compared to Tracktion, either. It's a feature request because people like Tracktion and want to see extra functionality added.
