It would be nearly perfect for me with Folder tracks and timeline-based (ie. transparent a la Acid) loop placement including stretch if needed.

Then it would be called Cubase....

Not even close... the entire approach Tracktion takes would have to change before it would be Cubase. Even if it added bloated features (which so far it hasn't), it would STILL not be like Cubase.

toggling between relative and absolute snap?

Post

you've got that already.

select multiple midi clips and they remain with relative snap. select individual clips and they have absolute snap.

What about those times when you just want to move one clip but with relative snap? Quite common for audio clips for me.

I wrote 'toggling' meaning I want to be able to choose for myself. ;-)

As it is now it is highly illogical.

and there are of course ocassions as well when I want to copy several clips at once and have them snap absolutely...

I would suggest relative snap as the default. Then a "nudge to snapline" feature. like option arrow or something.

Ability to import Rex2 and Acid files would be nice. And definitely the whole time-stretch/compress feature on standard .wav files. And better (i.e. MORE) MIDI editing features (that would take up a whole list by itself). Concerning the Cubase comments, I am not fond of Steinberg products either. They are cumbersome, figgity (the drivers seem to cause hang-ups in other non-Steinberg audio apps, particularly where my ASIO input devices are concerned), and they are certainly over-priced.
