Sheesh...

<long rant>No, thanks to you (mostly) this was the most self-centered month (on your behalf) I have ever seen. I don't care how much talent you've got. You rip out the heart and soul of the participants in these contests with your supreme "The contest is about major label bla bla bla" statements.

For me, this contest is about getting an idea across. Look, I got 1 point this month...down from 58 or so in my last effort. Yet almost all the reviews I got were favorable. That's good! It means I made something unique. I don't give a flying f**k if it is signed by anyone.

The theme of these compos are as arbitrary as bird droppings. I tend to view the theme as a certain limitation but I don't care if I actually manage to fit within it or not, because at the end of the day what matters is how happy I am with my entry.

The point being: I'm not in this to win. I am here to listen to what all the other folks here can make. I write reviews (that takes about half a day). I get majorly pissed off by people who just use this place to dump their picture off and brag as if they own half the world. They ruin the fun and childish thrill in this contest.

Because, let's face it, most people here will never get signed, no matter how much we dream about it, because we have lives to live, children to raise, wives (or husbands) to please, jobs to attend to...getting signed is not a part of my future. So just because the compo says "the song that will get you signed" that is not something I take literally. It is a direction.</long rant>

:x

My song failed to fit that theme completely. But for me just having time to write a song and enter is an achievment.

Actually, I liked the fiddly solo... but it's too nervous to be enjoyable for over a minute (IMNSHO)

Isn't the piano the most straighforward part of this piece ? (with the drum maybe).
Thanks for the review...

"Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats - a French Canadian band from the 80's - I was trying to put my finger on who that vocal reminded me of - you did it :D Thanks.
Techbot wrote:Slartifartbast: Yep this could get signed maybe not by a major but maybe a smaller label. It has a 60's folk feeling to it.
Thanks for your positive comments. Cheers!
Thanks to everyone for listening and voting for my entry 'Sunday'.

" "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats " is a track I definitely want to hear :) Thanks for the tip Techbot and Slartifartbast and for the no1 votes (I'm truly humble).

Lady J quoth

calm down. this is all for fun remember? sheesh.

None of your posturing and primping was 'fun'. It was tedious. This is the first one of these competitions Ive entered in well over a year, and to be honest, I wonder now why I bothered. Not because of votes, or whether people liked it, or anything to do with my track, or any other actual piece of music at all, but because it means I've had to wade through the absolutely pointless bullshit that you referred to as 'divaextreme'

WTF does any of it have to do with the spirit of these f**king competitions? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Its a friendly little muck-about by a few musicians on a website. But you've spent your time trying to turn it into your own private egofest.

I tried to do you a favour by putting up your track, and TEN MINUTES after you post in the thread about the link being wrong you finally PM me to let me know. Someone not putting on a f**king show would have just PM'd me straight away, that would be normal. And then you make a weird post implying I've done something to the track. Of course you quickly retracted that but I saw it nonetheless. And then you went on to wail over and over again that the world wasn't jumping to attention to fix older links. Clue : this isnt about you. You have no importance here. You're just like the rest of us, and I would have reposted anyones track if they'd asked. But after what I saw, I can't think of a good reason anyone would do you a favour again.

Quite frankly, you're spoiling everything that was 'fun' about these damned competitions.

Thanks to you all for the time and effort you have spent in making music, reviews, votings and postings just for pleasure. That's the philosophy that attracted me to enter. I would like next months a gossip more focused in music.
May Gods help us to avoid "the illusion of the knowledge" and the consecuent crash-landing.

As every body was a little nervous this month, i have an idea of a theme for a calm contest next month : "Christian music...".

I would like better Jah Music, if you know what I mean, Sir. Less horror and more relaxing.

Or do You??!!

I seem to remember a free for all entry by you entitled "I lost my robot".
I liked it a lot and saved it to play for friends. Your entry this month is very good as well, no need to flash a mean tooth to eveeryone here.
I will still vote according to music, not gossip/BS.
Just went through all the entries and I am impressed by many.
