Has anyone here tried using the Tascam US2400 DAW controller with T2, either in MCU emulation, or otherwise?

If so, how does it work for you?

Thanks, Ron. I'm actually asking because I was considering buying a US2400, but since I've had no replies, I think my next step will be to try to find a shop here in Dallas that has one, and bring my laptop in to try it out...

im using the us-122 as a little two channel mixer for my little projects and overdubs for the larger ones, where i want to take my laptop to the clients house for some makeshift overdubs to a live "taping"...

what do you want to know? the version of cubase that comes with these things sucks. that's all i have to say. and the latency with the us-122 is horrible when monitoring through any amp sim, into ANY software. totally useless for anything other than overdubs from a microphone with real time monitoring turned off.

actually, i use mine more on my gaming machine as a soundcard for my headphones and mic.

i'll sell it for two dollars. and ill give you my jeep. take it away!

I had a US-122 -- actually two of them. The first one was an open-box, and had a blown left channel. The second one I blew the left channel out on myself by switching on phantom power with the gain up and an unbalanced cable plugged into the XLR jack. Really: WATCH OUT WITH PHANTOM POWER ON THE US-122. Before switching it on, bring the gain down all the way, and never plug an unbalanced XLR chord in with phantom power turned on. You'll blow the channel if you do.

In the end I gave up on the US-122 after about 6 weeks and traded up for $100 to a PreSonus Firebox, which I like much better. It's got a solid metal case, has strong knobs with detents in them (unlike the crappy knobs on the US-122), and has 6 inputs instead of two. It's also got separate phones and main output levels, and like the US-122 has MIDI I/O. 96K/24bit and still bus-powered to-boot. It's a great little field-recording box, and I highly recommend it.

But all of this is beside the point. What I was asking about when I started this thread is the Tascam US-2400 control surface. It doesn't do any audio, just MIDI control with HUI and MCU emulation. 24 moving faders and transport controls to be had for $1200 seems like a great deal to me, but I want to make sure it'll actually work with my favorite DAW software before dropping any cash on one.

Again: Has anyone tried these out with T2, or do I need to be the first? I know they work with ProTools and Logic (among others), but neither Tascam nor Mackie will confirm for me that they work with Tracktion.

(BTW, Despite not knowing the answer to this specific question, thanks to Don Lee at Mackie tech support in case you're reading this. Our phone conversation was quite helpful.)

i recommend that everybody call tech support before asking anything in a forum.

other than it being usb, i don't see any reason why the thing wouldn't work with tracktion, even if its not officially supported.

my onyx1640 gets 16 simultaneous recordable tracks with cubase le, where steinberg says the software is only able to record 4 channels at once. go figure... go mackie! woot! yoink!

strange and amazing suprises often happen with computer audio equipment. go experiment and tell US if it's compatible. be the hero.

all i know is, my us-122 is for shit with tracktion. but it's great for overdubs inside cubase le, the little software package that came with it. i just import sessions back and forth as needed and work like that. it's really no problem. i don't mind the hassle to get to the functions that cubase has over tracktion. it's really not that much of a deal.

i've been thinking about a control surface for some time now. let us know if it works. if it works for you, ill go buy one too.
