I'm not huge on challenge and response systems either, but I've never had a problem getting more auths on plugs I've legitimately purchased from any company thus far, other than having to wait a day or so for a response (other than Sampletank which took a few days for Jason to get back). It's annoying when you have to wait, especially if you format often, but I look at it as a necessary evil. The only copy protection I don't want to deal with at all are dongles, A) because who needs more hardware in their system (that's never good), and B) they're small and I loose things.

They do go out of business from time to time - think Waldorf and I don't mean anything connected with apples or walnuts or Fawlty Towers.

Many of the early audio interface firms went bust or discontinued their products (leaving users in the lurch with no drivers for new OS versions etc).

In time, I expect plenty of small operations plying their trade in the plugin market will move on to greener pastures. Once they aren't maintaining a website you are pretty much screwed unless they release a copy protection free version before the doors shut.

If they go into receivership their assets may become the property of another business with no interest in former customers welfare.

In regards to them going out of business I think Princeton is a small enough company where just contacting Tony prior to them going out of business, would lead to some sort of solution. If not there'd always be the crack option (let's not get into that debate, but if you paid for it, and it became unsupported...) Now this would at least give you the plug-in until the VST format became obsolete, and by the time that would happen I think your $99 or whatnot would have been well spent. Also, let's not forget that these are hypotheticals. I wish copy protection wasn't an issue at all and more people followed Cakewalk's logic on it, but for some it's just a necessary evil, and no copy protection scheme is perfect and more convenient for the user than none would be (hell, even serials get lost). On the other hand I can't blame the devs for not wanting any copy protection on their plug-ins.

Ok, to get back on topic I just checked out the W2, seemed kinda neat, no latency, true-stereo, supposedly makes existing impulses sound better, has non-impulse algos, etc., but it's $249. For that cash I'd pick up the Princeton and the Arts Acoustic reverbs, and forgoe the W2 entirely. But that's just me...

There is also the fact that there is more to convolution than just reverb, you could use the W2 as an amp, eq, or weird effects machine. At least that is the theory.

I have already tried ArtsAcoustic and R66 and was not overly imporessed, but maybe I'll give them another listen.

I tested the Wizoo demo on my Athlon XP 1700 net machine,while not a powerhouse,20% constant is too high.I don't think that's the price for low latencey(Waves/Voxengo are less than half that on average),but rather I noticed no spikes on the Wizooverb demo(at least with their patches/IR's).Although the variety and control is nice I do have IR's that sound just as good and without the high CPU load.I liked the Princeton a lot for what it is but it is kind of a one trick pony,but a great addition nonetheless and the group buy makes it tempting.

Yes - the idea that they want to make their different algorithms ( Room/Plate etc ) separate plugins and sell them all seperately seems a bit naff.

I would be more interested if they bundled all the algorithms into one omnibus product and you could switch around between them and tweak to your heart's content. This is certainly the hardware approach - halls, plates, rooms, chambers all in the one box.

Yes and this is what I like the most with this, I tried some home made IRs, and i could not see or hear any spikes, This is to me a whole new exsperience with convolution verbs. The first I have tried with out any spikes, eh well is it called Gigapulse.... well that had no spikes, but sounded to weak to my liking.
