VAmp2.
You can get it incredibly cheap these days (just saw one for 129 Euro, new and all).

Good sound, Devon. Care to elaborate what you've been using?

Btw, I'm still looking for a riffy sound like used by the Foo Fighters. Don't think I'll ever get it without mic'ed up rectifiers though... and having Butch Vig next to you certainly doesn't harm either.

Kramer with EMG's into a POD 2.0, then into a dbx 1066 compressor into the PC, quad tracked and panned with Izotope's Ozone multiband compressor and EQ.

I like sasch's jazzy sounds .. the lead is good, but the more chordy finger picking stuff is really good... kinda tommy emanuel style...

I tend to always mic up my amp rather than using VST's..
I have a Yamaha DG100-212 amp and a fender USA Lone Star guitar... You can listen to various snippets of my sound at
http://www.glooped.com/

Ideally I'd like to get a small crappy amp.. and use that instead.. you get a much better sound micing up small amps than micing up big stage amps... mainly cause your mic can pic up more of an even tone than with large speakers.

... and you can push a small amp harder without getting deaf (you or your neighbours).

BTW Ben , it would be good if you could choose a few clips out of your huge collection (maybe your favorites)and give some deep links here, just to have them in one place.

Thanx guys. (...signs off and goes to the beach :D )

Did some quick recordings too:
http://www.ndzeit.org/kvr/noodle.mp3

First a bit (almost) clean guitar, then some heavy stuff. Recorded with a Les Paul Studio, clean on the neck pickup heavy on the bridge. Both takes were doubled and panned hard left and right. Both use a software amp sim and the clean sound uses the voxengo oldschoolverb with the vintage guitar preset additionaly.

Playing is pretty imperfect, as I said a quick recording ...

I'm not hearing any stereo there; I switched between mono and stereo and it sounded identical.

You seem perhaps confused...

When you say 'doubled', you mean that you c&ped the first track, yes? That's not really what 'doubling' is about.

Hahahahah!

I warned you!!

:hihi:

The vast majority of the clips so far are heavily effected; seems that (as I predicted) people here have not much of a clue about bread/butter guitar sounds.

Anyway.

I shall post something dirty and quick shortly.

:D

Blah.

Just post a link of something you think is 'good'.

I listened to a few things from that site and they were horrible. Not just in subjective terms either; they were unusabley bad.

Post a link to a guitar sound that you think is good.

Cheers!

Well, here is my first attempt at audio guitar The first guitar was done using a Strat copy and a Twin through the audioBuddy to Audiophile. The software is Sonar Producer using the SonitusFX. All one take - thin lead but just experimenting.

Fellas - I don't know what I am doing but I am having fun!

Hi all - an interesting thread with some cool sounds & chops! I've got a few clips here of various guitar sounds and was wondering if anyone could suggest somewhere I could put them so's you guys can check them out? Or maybe even host 'em?

Here are some Guitar Port tones, all dirty with no post processsing.

I use it for practice (my wife & one & two year old boys don't appreciate the stack on after 7.00pm) and it's not too bad.

All tones were recorded with my Peavy Wolfgang straight into the Guitar Port, processed in Guitar Port and then into Cubase.

Just a quick one-take with no post-processing.

Please forgive the bad phrasing  I haven't played in months and haven't played this style for years.

Great thread btw. :D
When I had a four track I wrote music ... now I just play with plugins.

You're right, I am confused
I did mean copied, though I should know that doubling usually means doing another take...

If you copy the track and pan one left and one right then the result is exaclty the same as having a single track panned central.

Either way the same signal is coming from the left/right speakers.

See?
