Problems with latency and reason

I recently installed tracktion and have a couple of problems that I can't fix.

Firstly when I use reason with tracktion there is a problem with the reason track not starting for half a bar (approx). More precisely it seems to not play the first half bar (or two or three notes) of reason.

Could this be connected with the latency problem? Tracktion is showing latency of 124.9ms which is completely unworkable. I'm using a tascam us-122 soundcard which I've had for a year or so with no problems. (using cubase previously).

Is it simply that I need more ram?

My specs are:
windows xp
2.59 ghz pentium
256 mb ram

any help very appreciated.

thanks

It's a known T bug.

thanks...

but is there anything that can be done to fix it or do I just bin tracktion?

You can get around it by putting a few notes before the actual start of your song (like a Redrum hi-hat 4 count) to get things rolling.

124.9ms latency??? Is that the sound card latency? Or the latency shown in the Rewire track properties? The latter is ok, 'cause T should be delaying / compensating that amount, which is the point of PDC.

Why would Reason need PDC? It doesn't, so the Rewire track property should show zero ms latency - unless you've added vst effects after the Rewire track that require PDC.

Oh right. Efx. :dog: Last time I used rewired reason I had a big chain of 'em.

There's another Rewire/latency bug I reported in a vastly ignored thread (perhaps I'm the only one disturbed by having all Reason tracks delayed by the amount of the Tracktion latency setting).
I also called Mackie about it; they denied that it existed until I guided them through recreating it on the phone, at which point they recommended I come here.
Bottom line: even though Rewire is generally sample-accurate, in Traction Reason's tracks *are* out of sync, though they render correctly. This is with no effects, no racks, nothing on the returning Reason tracks.
Has anyone noticed this? I guess the workaround is to render/freeze the tracks, though it's a drag that it's necessary.

This is the latency shown in tracktion. The soundcards latency is much lower (as low as the us-122 goes which I can't remember at the minute because I'm not at my home pc).

Thanks

Just my $0.02

I decided to get Reason (an old 1.0 version) integrated with T2 last night, and it worked like a charm. Admittedly, my Creamware card has so many MIDI and audio routing capabilities that it was easy to set up, but I'm very happy with the way it's working. Sync with Tracktion seems to be spot-on, and I can play Reason devices live through Traction with latencies low enough to comfortably perform very technical material. WELL below the 125ms stated above. I haven't checked, but it feels closer to 20ms or less.

In the past, when I was trying to integrate CubaseSX and Reason, latencies were so bad that I had to perform keyboard parts with Reason launched as a standalone, then later integrate through ReWire.

Now I can use all those sweet sounds in the "Strings" ReFill again.
