does rendering/freezing work with jamstix VST?

Is there a way I can, for instance, assign the jamstix vst to a blank track and use either the render or freeze functions to "write" the audio that it WOULD play if I told it to jam along with the audio recorded on another track?

At the moment I'm recording a jamstix live jam by driving it off a pre-recorded guitar track (muted in audiom8) and then routing it back through my soundcard's internal mixer onto a blank track with the jamstix plugin as an insert. It works, but I can't help but wonder if there's a quicker, more elegant way of doing it.
