well it's just plain funny now....okay, I first tried to order it on dec 1st 04, I was told it would be in stock (doesn't matter where you looked or look now) on 12/15, then 12/28 (I cancelled it here),then like 1/5, then it went to 1/30, 2/28, 3/30, 4/30...ect...june 30th came and it's 7/20...

when I cancelled the order I called a friend at Akai's service center in Texas (no longer Akai). That's when I found out that Akai was acquired by Numark last August.

Well folks imo (and I have lots to base this on) Numark is the worst music gear manufacturer there is. Now it's coming up to a year...is this what we are to expect from the future? It's my understanding that they have dropped deca-buddy. However I am not sure, but if they have why dont they tell people?

Knowing the customer service and the the lack there of first hand from Numark, combined with this display clearly suggests it would be unwise to ever purchase another Akai product...that saddens me very much... :(

I did get clone ensemble and this sure opens the door for developers imo to create another great pluggin (nudges Aleksey) for creating harmonies...:D

It's a great program but as you said it appears to have been abandoned. Or near enough as makes no difference. I bought Decabuddy and DC Vocoder when they were being blown out at Zzounds or maybe AudioMIDI. Both excellent. Shame they're orphans. :-(

Good luck with it.

was it you that told me on the FL forum when I ordered it I would love it? I hope Aleksey takes me seriously, chorus ensemble is pretty cool, but I would like an alyernative as well...I can't think of anyone who could do a better job then voxengo...;)

Did you try 'Choir Boy'?

does it do harmonies?

I for one would love an intelligent harmonizer.. nothing like it exists...

It generates 3 additional voices which are controlable using MIDI. It also includes formant correction for vocal material.

Hink, I currently have no plans to produce such plug-in. Anyway, idea of a MIDI-controlled multi-voice vocal pitch-shifter sounds good to me. I've replied this several times, but want to say it again that I will implement such plug-in when I have a good pitch-shifter algorithm implementation. To date, I have not studied or experimented with this subject yet.

Very nice Space Boy...I just messed around with it for a few, but I'm impressed...next time I'm up I'll be grabbing my credit card...;)

So let's do the math...7 mos wait so far for a 100 dollar pluggin or 45 dollars total for two that are very good and are here now...wtg Numark :hihi:

Did you know there is a hardware version of this now?
Except AMS says it is "out of stock" also!

Post

The hardware one was the original, and apparently is the reason the plug-in's called "Deca-" instead of "Penta-" buddy. That is, the hardware one can add up to nine voices for a total of ten (deca) rather than the five (penta) that the VST does.

yeah the hardware version was around for a while...you guys have no idea how much I Numark...I wont even go into how Alesis screwed me (yes they're numark too  ) It's worse the money Numark took out of my pocket as a salesman...with returns, crap gear...no matter how much I would try to convince people Numark was bad I still would be the one they blamed when Numark let them down, I lost sales to returns and sales to consistant customers... :x

He was cool and clean and came from the Far East
With a tone so pure -- it was never muddy.
Just a twist of the formant knob: baby to beast!
So I'm singin' this BALLAD OF OLD DECA-BUDDY.
