hi kvrians...

I'm looking for a vst fx from the likes of suppatrigga/buffer overdrive/heizenbox, the kind of plugin that you can use to rearrange, make the audio stutter in mind bobbling ways...
I've actually tried the three above, but even if i think they are great sound mangling tools, i've found them pretty useless when trying to automate them in order to produce a certain pattern (not that i didn't try hard...)

-supatrigga only lets you setup some rearranging probabilities and such, so you don't have any 'real time-controls'
-bufferoverdive sonds pretty much like what i'd like when i use the x/y pad in the lower left corner (anywhere else usually makes a way too much extreme effect for what i'm trying to achieve), but thus makes it really hard to automate, and it easily gets random
-heizenbox i couldn't tell exactly what's my grudge with this one, but somehow it doesn't feel right to me...

Anyone woud have anything else to advise? A friend of mine told me that some reaktor ensembles would do the trick, but the ones he knew of were loop based, and an audio in effect would be way more useful to me (though i guess i can get reaktor session for pretty cheap now  )...

Any insight is welcome 8)

if your on pc you could try "phutboy slim" by scuzzphut.

@supatrigga:

try setting the random rates to 0.
then you can automat the permanent repeat/reverse/... parameters/knobs(on/off).

for reaktor(session) try the ginsudelay(hope it's spelled right). it's perfect for glitchy effects.

Check out the plugins by ioplong@ smartelectonix. Splonki might be what your'e looking for.

For a killer granular/ reorder instruments you can check Lucifer by Devine Machine. It's complicated, but very deep and powerful. (66.66$)

Lucifer is the shizzle for this sort of stuff (and does everything you want), written by the good people at devine machine (www.devinemachine.com)

@audiofault : thanks a lot for for the scuzzphut link, the plug is great, 3 controls but loads of fun
@spacefox : i'll definitely checkout some of these, thanks

about lucifer, it seems like it gets overlooked but ppl who have it quite enjoy it... that's a good sign ;)

Lucifer is a unique thing, a true musical instrument with its own quirks, strengths and weaknesses. I know I haven't even began to scratch the surface of what it can do, and I know I'll need to put some time in it - just like when learning to play an instrument.

A second vote for Ioplong (SmartElectronix) plugs. Splonki, FlitchSplifter and Sloper are all cool.

Also, KTGranulator by Koen (SmartElectronix also) is very good for this type of mangling.

If you have Reaktor, GrainStates is a great ensemble.

I also like the granular voice module in VAZ Modular.

you should try to route midi in to buffer override and play it with your midi keyboard! no more randomness!

Prehaps Anarchy Rhythms will get you close to what you need, its a spectral gater type thingy. Not really for rearranging the audio but still interesting for the stuttering and general mangled goodness.

Vellocet's VReorder is a great little plug in that is totally user-controllable

For midi, klanglabs Glitch and Midistutter by (sorry i cant remember!! ) are excellent

Lets start a massive user request for a vst version !!!

Ioplong's splonki is probably the best one for controlling the patterns, as each slice is midi triggerable. (although it might be the same in Lucifer)
