ok, When I add a sample to a cell in battery 2 I will open folders with drums hits and listen to them..no problem.
But after I have gone multitimbral and assigned the different drum hits to different channel outs, the preview is gone if i want to replace a drum hit.
Basicaly, I can scroll the file directories w/ the hits as before, but this time there is no audio preview.
So I get the preview when the tracks are all going thorugh channels 1 and 2 in Battery, but after assigning instances in tracktion and going multitimbral in Battery, I get no preview.
Can anyone post what they do in this case?
Previewing Battry 2 in Tracktion

If you have, say, percussion on 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 that you want to preview, you may need to put an instance of the Rack on different tracks. For each of those instances, click on the Rack in the track filter list and in the main properties area in the lower centre of the screen, change the outputs from channels 1/2 to 3/4 etc for each track.
I'll try and get a screenshot, but I may be barking up the wrong tree entirely.
But I think that you're not getting previews on channels other than 1/2, simply because they are not going to the main mixer.

Right, I managed to replicate the problem in DK+, another drum machine. Here's what you need to do.
If Battery2 has, say, 8 stereo outputs, and you want to use all of them, then you'll have to use an instance of the Rack that contains Battery2 on 8 different tracks, each track set to a different output.
If you only want to use, say, 3 (1/2, 3/4, 5/6), then you only need to use the rack instance on 3 tracks.
You can, of course, write all your drum programming on just one MIDI clip on one track. It's just that the audio for different outputs will appear on the different tracks, so you can use different effects for each group. Also, you can use your input device on any of the instanced tracks. They will all go to the Battery2 plugin.

hey man..THAT's a freakin answer right there...damn...good work.
Let me add to that, I actually got it set up just like you said, but I figured something out that may not be so obvious to people.
When you first open Battery and are loading up drum sounds..usually you havent assigned channels and everything goes out 1 and 2. You can then just open up the add sample option and every file you roll over wil auto sound.
NOW, after setting up the channels like shown above you will not be able to do that. What I found out, is that you have to hit the button on your drum pad or keyboard that the cell is assigned to. When you do that, it will then preview the sounds for you. I was just rolling over the samples like before I assigned channels....that will NOT work once you go multitimbral. You must hit the MIDI note to hear the preview.
This is very important to know, because if you can't preview your sounds, then it is real frustrating. I mean, I have over 500 snares, and being able to scroll through directories and pick out what I need on the fly is a BIG deal. So hopefully between Ceenda's post and my folowup, this should realy help out anyone who is having similar issues.
