Greg

Is there any other alternative to ffx4? I have some mono only dx efects that wil not work with ffx4.

Out of curiosity, which effects are DX only that you are using?

OB-tune (this will not work with ffx4)
Ozone (I know you can buy it in vst now, but I bought the dx version when it first came out.)
All the sony plugins that come with acid and Soundforge (probably around 30 of them)
Izotope spectron

And a few others that I don't care much about.

yes, they are - I got the Compressor X and the eq with Sonar 2XL but the other old bundled Sonar plugins are great as well: http://www.dspfx.com/ :-D

well thanks to all for the support on dx plug-ins. ButIdo fell if one needs to use a vst plug-in to wrap an "already slower than vst plug-in", than I'll wait till TRACKTION reaches puberty.

ttoz and ELI, I can't speak for anyone, but if I'm understanding correctly, it's not a matter of code maturity or matter of following industry practice. It's a matter of maintaining an easily modifiable code base that covers 2 (and probably 3 as it moves towards Linux) platforms from one code base.

It's a shame that some plug-ins are DX-only, but it seems to me that it's a mistake on the developers of the plug-ins' fault not to provide alternative versions. Not by coincidence, OB-Tune isn't even made or available anymore. Bet the story would have been different if it were VST. ;)

1. don't hold your breath - I'm sure you wouldn't survive!

2. "already slower than vst plug-in" - that's nonsense!

3. the wrapper uses almost no additional cpu-cycles!
