There are LOTS of sequencers with this style already. Tracktion is unique and has loads of character.
And lots of bloated sequencers have built-in eq's, bundle synths you'll never use, and...hey, wait, T does that, too...

So, the message here is that if any of us users want new features, we have to get past the anti-bloatware gestapo that don't want them.

Any of these features can be implemented as a plug in. My installation of T doesn't even have one of the MDA plugs. This whole anti-bloatware-I-don't-need-features-you-want-so-you- can't-have-them attitude is getting just plain annoying. Why can't we just brainstorm a bunch of ideas, and if the T dev team finds a clever way to work them in to future versions, great. Stop trying to poison the threads so that Mackie will never consider these features.

You call "a mixer" brainstorming? Not only has it been beat to death hundreds of times around here but its very unoriginal.

You may want to check out Beno's thread requesting people to be nice to others regarding feature requests, even if they've been beat to death.

if several people ask over and over for a mixer it's likely not bloat...

There used to be a mixer called TF Mixer 1.0 in the TracktionFaction site (which is down :( ). Does anybody still have this mixer? Would that be a "good enough" solution?

My point is not about bloatware, its about charcter. T's character is defined by it's attitude towards hardware simulation and single screen interface, not to mention what I consider to be an exceptionally intuitive drag and drop interface.

A mixer is not just for christmas you know

A mixer in T could be radically different than what you find in Cubase. It could be designed with T's character in mind, not hardware and implement the same drag and drop filter elements.

Oh, and I'm not saying I'd leave just because a mixer was added, I'm saying I might look for something else because of the philosophical change it signaled.

As long as it could be built into the one screen approach, and not need a separate tab, or <shudder> a floater, then I really couldn't give a crap if there was one there or not. I doubt I'd use it, but then just like racks, I'd ignore it if I didn't need it.

I'd really take offence at any extension that required another tab/window[1], as this just dilutes the overall point of Tracktion's design, and encourages futher lapses in the future.

[1] there are of course a couple already, and I *really* don't like them, either.

Any plugs would turn into floating windows and I don't think anyone is asking for that. What Koolkeys posted is basically what I'd want, modular so you can switch it all up as you like, maybe call it a 'mixing rack filter' or something. I dunno. Maybe a rack filter that can go on the master that allows you to mix down everything there?

That's similiar in vein to an early feature request I had for racks, which Jules seemed to like at the time, then ignored (prolly 'cos it'd be a pain up the aristotle to program).

What I'd like to see for racks is a way of creating a new parameters for a rack, that can be used to control one or more parameters of plugins contained inside the rack.

A build your own control surface interface that could be used to control parameters from a range of different plugins, or assigned to a rack filter to effectively create a 'build your own synth' environment would be pretty powerful.

Yeah, it would be great to be able to throw in a slider that controls the envelope filter amount on a synth in the same window as the sustain for another plug. Create your own little control screen independent of the source tracks/plugs.

That's pretty imaginative. See, flanneljammies, every brainstorm starts with a little drizzle.

what if there was a level slider attached to the big meter, or a similar translucent fader that could come up over the tracks!!!
