My father and my younger brother are huge fans of bluegrass. They like a little bit of country music, but bluegrass is by far their primary passion. The family home has been full of acoustic guitars, banjos, dobros, fiddles, and mandolins through the years. The topic of Bela Fleck came up one day (possibly the name was mentioned on TV.) My father hadn't heard of the name, and my brother had heard the music, but made some sort of mildly derogatory remark about jazz or something.Meffy wrote:For bluegrass I always go with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. In fact I think I'll put some on now... something old... Flight of the Cosmic Hippo? Yes.
You see, they're hardcore hillbilly purists. I don't share any of their musical tastes, and certainly not their penchant for disparaging other styles of music.
I think I must have been tragically switched at birth with my parents' real eldest son.
