Seems a lot of people are annoyed with Mackie.

I cant stand em but that goes back a long time before Tracktion was even written.
My own personal outlook on this is that i will wait to see how long Mackie stick it out, My opinion is it wont be long in the grand scale of things unless they actually buy Tracktion off Jules (Then i will not bother with it any longer).
It's very hard to recommend T to anyone at the moment because
A If they check the forum there is nothing but complaints.
B I'm in the uk and Mackie are taking the piss out of us with what is essentially (And one of the reasons i purchased) a british piece of software.
C T1 is no longer available and i cant show off T2 because it has some serious GUI lag problems that make it look silly on my system.
D Everywhere you go the vibe is on other hosts not T

I'm probably a little biased towards the Mackie situation from other encounters and Beno knows i certainly dont bulk him in with that but the basic fact remains that there is absolutly no trust in Mackie as worldwide distributor of this program at the moment, Yes they do a great job of sorting out the US but it does tend to come across as Bush type "Were OK Jack"

Should have added that the only time i get heated is when somebody tells me to stop whining about Mackies support, I live in the UK and we expect support for any purchase we make that doesn't work properly.

Having said that i apologise and will keep my head down for now (I dont post anyway at the moment because of the situation)
However Mackie need to pull there finger out, I honestly believe that after the release of T2 fix after fix after fix should have been rushed out so that the forum here was all fluffy clouds and kisses, As it stands they didn't and look at the chaos :(

All good points, although I think the thread strayed a bit, as Beno's original post was that the tone of the board was becoming hostile towards other users, not Mackie....

But I think those 2 subjects go together as most of the hate started when T distribution was transfered to Mackie and some of us outside of the USA could not get hold of T2 and even got left out of the update deals. I asked for an alternate deal and got flamed for not trusting Mackie to deliver the goods (Still waiting for Spanish distribution).
Others got mad at the presence of the bugs and blamed Mackie for it too and also got flamed.
So everytime we have asked Mackie for a solution to an ill planned release there were flames thrown left and right

Just another observation. The virtual dust bowl that is the offical forum is a joke, and sorry to labour the Ableton comparison again - just take a look the vitality and activity of theirs.

And another thing ;) !

Just seen this months Future Music - a UK mag. FFS Mackie's adverting T2 priced in $

I dont honestly believe you dont expect hostility when you close a thread with no explanation.

You really need an explanation as to why the thread was locked :?: :nutter:
I'm sure it was locked because you and james took a nice thread about Beno's drum machine and decided to have a pissing contest. No call for that, really.

NAS, you're not known as being the most diplomatic of folks, you have to admit. I'm sure you rather like it that way. ;)

If you look at the energyXT forum, there are nothing but "complaints", too. The list of FRs, BRs, and general uncertainty on that forum is enormous. But only a fool would say that eXT isn't worthwhile or that Jorgen's doing a poor job.

The amount of tech support, bug reports, and feature requests in a forum is the worst possible barometer for a product. Let's face it, that's what a forum's USED for by a lot of people. Only occasionally do we think to start a positive thread, and there's only so much you can contribute to those kinds of threads; whereas "negative" threads can take on a life of their own.

Beno's point, if I'm understanding it, wasn't that people should stop Bug Reports or Feature Requests (the kind of threads that often seem "negative") but rather that it's adversarial responses that are causing those threads to take a negative turn instead of staying supportive and positive sources of information.

Beno's point was that folks were shooting down the FR's of Newbies. mea culpa - I did this at least once myself.

For my part is was because there had been so much Live and Ext evangelism and downright trolling that I became defensive on behalf of my beloved T !! So, while I have had my complaints about Mackie as well, in my case the negativity was in response to anti-T sniping NOT because of mackie's shortcomings.

Ben's point is well taken and although I get frustrated with people asking for features before they "get" how T works I will try not to shoot down suggestions. Fact is I myself posted plenty of demands for "missing" features only to find that T had the problem solved in a more elegant way that I hadn't yet understood.
