Well, I think I could've definitely charged more for it, but face it, I had no fees to pay relating to the creation of the UBK. It was just my time. When you buy a Sonic Implants brass soundfont, they had to pay a trumpet player to come to their studio and record the samples. I own my own bass and I have been a bassist for many years, so I didn't have to hire anyone.93143 wrote:Well, it's almost free. Most stuff in this price range is only good "in the mix" (Sonic Implants anyone? Brass - $17.95, good brass - $995.00)...
And besides, I'm a big fan of good samples that are inexpensive. Take the new NS_Kit7, for example. Amazing drum library, but he's definitely charging much less then he could've charged for that quality of samples.

Not complaining...
Not meaning to slam SI either; their budget stuff is consistent and better than most GMs. And before the UGK there was the Real Fender Strat...
Thank you for your efforts!

Oh yeah, I've bought lots of stuff from Sonic Implants, and they're great. Very inexpensive.93143 wrote:Not complaining...

Thank you! I think it'll be very useful. A good bass has been the primary thing my music has been missing. Looking forward to start making some tracks with it.

Well, let's see...
In Vicslap I clipped sounds out of some drum loops and rearranged them. In Bassics the drums are from some demo of a rompler, I'm pretty sure it was Plugsound. In the Slap bass demo, it's the demo of the G&S CustomWorks Drums Kit (which is quite good and useable), which was posted here earlier. The cowbell is from my free Latin percussion soundfont. In the fingered demo, it's the G&S CustomWorks Drums Kit again.
And finally in Funkimosis, it's the Manytone drum sounds and percussion sounds that come with Manystation. In fact, as you have probably noted, all the sounds in that demo are from Manystation, even the wah-wah guitar in the background.

Thanks for the info, Greg. I was hoping it might have been Manytone's drum sample pack. I was interested in getting both, but they don't have any samples of what the drums sound like on their site. I thought they might have re-worked the MP3s to use their sample set before the bass demos were posted.

The drums that come with Manystation are okay. But the percussion instruments (congas, shakers, and that stuff) are to die from, IMO. The guitars that come with Manystation are amazing, too. So there isn't really a full GM bank in Manystation, but the few acoustic instruments that come with it are great. I was messing around with the banks that come with it and there's some really sweet organic synth sounds. The patches were really well done, and there's a lot of power in it. I think Manystation is cool because it works the same way a Quadrasynth does, like the Alesis QS synthesizers or the Korg Triton.

GregJazz,
These are great samples - really nice tone. Can you tell me what the p/ups and signal chain used for the recording was please.

The pickups are really nice active EMG P pickups. They have a really great hi-quality tone, which is why I got them. I'm not quite sure what you mean by signal chain, but there's a pre-amp inside of my bass, too. I had the inside of the bass routed to make more room so I could put 2 batteries for the pickup instead of one. On the EMG website it says that if you put 2 batteries you get better sound. Then I just recorded it directly into my computer. No effects, EQ, or compressor. I wanted the users to have the abililty to put their own effects to their own taste.

I think I remember Paul saying he was going release some more drums as a free manymore (sorry Paul if I'm wrong) The drums in manystion do sound neat when you mess with the filters. I agree about the acoustic instrumnets,Some of my favorite patches in manystion are the acoustic instruments that are layered with synth sounds, they just sound gorgeous.Gregjazz wrote:The drums that come with Manystation are okay.
