About this mixer thing...

I saw all the posts about people requesting a mixer in traction and other people getting annoyed about that... it seemed to me the main thing people wanted was to be able to compare the LED's side by side.

I have a little suggestion that would keep the tracktion workflow exactly the same as it is now and also allow users to compare meteres side by side....

Just have a little toggle button that rotates the entire play area (including inputs tracks and filters) by 90 degrees anti-clockwise.

And when in that mode the scrolling would be like one of those old pianos that used to scroll hole punched paper paper.

And then all the little meters would line up at the top of the screen!

Just a thought.

Good Idea. There are actually lots of solutions that can satisfy the desires of those who like things oriented vertically for various reasons without adding a mixer per se. We are definitely looking into the general 'mixer' request and rest assured that no one wants to betray Traction's vision.

You could just turn your head clockwise 90 degrees.

when this idea was brought up for the first time (I guess it was about one and a half years ago) we had a lot of fun... :-D
- Jules considered it to be a good idea at that time b.t.w....

Now that is a great idea.

Yeah it would be cool. I think to give it even a more organized "mixer" like feel, the volume pan filters should have an option of lockable sizes (small, medium, large). Having them at all different sizes stretched or squished makes it hard to compare to one another, which is what mixer people usually wanna do. I think if they were all the same size right before the meters, it would be a lot cleaner.

Why doesnt jules just allow the amps as they are now to recieve MIDI messages from plugs, Then make a native JUCE plug that sends a user assignable MIDI message from its user assigned controls.

This way if you want a mixer you just load in a vst controller (no cpu) to control the traditional amps from one interface ?

I think the best place to put the mixer would be as a tab in the racks window. It's scaleable, so you can choose how much of the track window to view, the parameters are still visible underneath and it's easy to click off the inputs and filters on both sides to maximise the width. That for me would be preferable over another screen tab or changing the entire orientation.

Just a few thoughts from a new Tracktion convert.

Might aswell. A cut down version of a mixer wont even really add any new functionality. If you're gonna make a mixer then make a full blown 1980 console with aux's, sends, EQ's, Virtual cables, dust, and all that jazz.
