This will not be a derivate of the Z-device, it's planned to be that most obscurely rumoured thing going under the working title P-device.

Cheers,

This sounds like most exciting news! The P-device. I like it already! Do you care to share any of those most obscure rumors with us? ;)

I don't know...

It's hard for me to explain, but I think that there's a difference between audio module routing layouts (the Grid) and modulator routings. I see the first ones as *formal* structures while the modulation routing has merely a semantical character, like "what do I want to do within that structure".

However, I think that modulation routings have more of a parametric character and they are not easy to describe, as the effect of the modulation is not determined by the routing itself (with little exceptions, like LFO->OSC = vibrato).

But saveing something along the lines of "envelope on each osc and various other interesting assignments" is not only long, but it also doesn't really say much unless you also say that it's good for this and that structure when you want to do some FM stuff...
Urs, you make some good points here and I agree that naming these things might be a bit more obtuse than with audio modules, but the fact remains that there is much overlap between useful routings to set up and some of these do take a bit of time to set up. In my opinion one of the most common weaknesses of patches is that they lack modulation that would make them more expressive. Often times this is due to either laziness or lack of thought. There are many pretty common routings for that appear in combination in many patches people want to make (especially for more bread and butter sounds like sequencer sounds, basses, leads, simple pads, etc). I think modulation routings could save time for good programmers and make the patches of others at least more expressive.

But of course you're the boss!

Nope, seriously it's pure coincidence that Podolski and P. start with the same letter, just like Zebra and Zoyd...

What synth could this be, considering that every track in this short piece comes from the same instrument?

You have only one try :hihi:

Not necessarily, ZEB is the abbreviation for "zu erratendes Biest", or "beast to be guessed"...

Actually, it's the infamous Z3. I tell you, that BMW could really make some noise into a song.
