HI

Am I the only 'rambling fool' that continues to be dumbfounded by both Live and Tracktions insistence on NOT having a full screen midi edit view?

I can appreciate how nice it is to have several different areas on screen but however nice it might look - it is not a good limitation to have when carrying out detailed midi editing.

Both these programs (I own one and sold the other through frustration) could really benefit from this one enhancement.

I can only imagine I am in the minority when it comes to needing a large canvas to do my midi work in?

Hey Flipper! It is *nearly* possible to full-screen MIDI edit in Live:

You can close the browser, help, and mixer sections using the little icons in the sidebars. Also close unwanted sections of the clip information.

Then you can click and drag the central divider up nearly to the top of the page, leaving almost a full screen MIDI editing piano roll section.

For editing larger MIDI files this is generally effective. Hope this helps.

HI

Yes - been trying out the demo today (I sold V4 a while back!!!) - what I would like to see is (in Tracktion & Live) is a 1 key command to open the bleeder in all it's glory!!! - full screen that is.

Thing is I have started to render a lot of my stuff to audio now, whereas I was previously a run dozens of vst's in realtime kinda guy.

So the audio side of Live is looking increasingly interesting, I would prefer one host does all but perhaps that will take time to evolve in Lives case - still it is otherwise looking good.

EDIT - thanks for that hint - that does almost get me there!
Why don't they put little arrow icons on the GUI - it's amazing how many features that are pretty important to a new user are hidden away in so many hosts!

I'd like a key command just to flip the widget and show the editor. I have plenty of space, I have Live set to show the clip nearly full screen, I just still need the mouse to click the triangle.

I think all the interface elements should be able to be mapped in the Key mapping screen. But this is still pretty minor for me.

I got this far but there really are no presets shown in the browser.

We mean thebrowser window on the left hand side of the screen...

Which devices have you tried?

If there are really no presets showing there for some/any of the devices, post your full details (system, OS, etc) on the beta forum here:

I have not experienced this problem/cannot confirm.
Yup! I'm a fairly experienced with Live so I know what you are referring to. I have contacte supprt and sent my Log file to the Abletons. I was trying it on my win2K machine first I will try on my WinXp PC tonight.

That would definitely be nice 8) . I think a few people have requested more key commands, so I imagine it'll be on the way. Ableton seem more responsive than most when it comes to implementing user requests.

That's cool. Let us know how it goes on XP - works here and I've not seen reports about this on the beta forum. But the really useful thing about having a full-blown public beta is that all sorts of issues can crop up when different system factors come into play.

Good luck!

I only reported one bug (crasher though), does that make me a bad beta tester? Beyond that I haven't seen anything not already found by other testers.

Well, I'm new to this beta test, but to be honest I usually can find all the "flaws" really fast.

Not here yet

BTW, what brought your system down?
