And that's just three samples! Imagine it with a sample for every note (or at least every minor third)!SampleScience wrote:I think it sounds good, very smooth & clean.

I think that sounds a fine idea. So many sample soundsets are cleaned up and processed so that any of the source instrument's inherent character is all but removed and it all sounds a bit 'sanitised'. It can sound great but it's not the same as sitting at the real thing and working with its imperfections... it's those 'wrinkles' that give us (and musical instruments) personality!Funkybot wrote:I don't want the most pristine Rhodes sound ever (between Mr. Ray 73 and Lounge Lizard, I already had that and didn't need to buy this one). If anything I'd want this to be a sampled Rhodes "warts and all," closer to what you might actually find, as opposed to one you'd buy in good shape then spend another $500 just servicing to make it perfect. I'm hoping that by the time this is done people will get that.

I agree, the only thing I have done to my rhodes is spruce up the action and change out some grommets so I could get my sustain back. Here in houston, the humidity plays havoc on the keys(swell up with moisture) and rubber parts.

So is this multi-sample set is still in the work or is it abandonned? I'm looking foward to it with excitement!

Funkybot may have bit off more than he imagined. Recording a good sample set is not a trivial task.

I've been trying to find a really nice Rhodes free single shot sample for a long time now. I can't seem to load multi sample sets into Kontact successfully. But I have been using one single shot selection from a multi sample set I freely downloaded. Seems to work ok.
But hasn't really got that nice Rhodes sound.
Might you have any suggestions. I'd like a really nice mellow Rhodes sample or samples.

I still think Guido Scognamiglio's MrRay73 is simply the best free Rhodes. learjeff's JRhodes3 soundfont is great, too. You're simply not going to get "that nice Rhodes sound" unless you multisample but frequencies and velocities.

Yeah, why not? If it can't handle multi samples, it's not worth having. Replace it with free sfz! (Hopefully there's just something amiss that can be fixed.)

Rhoder, you're going to need to dig out the Kontakt manual and get a handle on using the mapping editor. Basically, you drag samples into the mapping editor and set them up so they range over the keyboard. PITA I know. The one trick Kontakt does very well is velocity stacks - you can drag in a whole set of velocity layers and sit them on a single note and they will automatically span the velocity range 0 -127. That task is really slow going in many other samplers, believe me.Sascha Franck wrote:Why not?Rhoder wrote: I can't seem to load multi sample sets into Kontact successfully.
Kontakt is still pretty appalling at that kind of stuff - automap features like you have in EXS24 editor or SFZed are still not there in v 2.11. You can use other samplers to create the instrument definition and import or convert them. For example, the EXS24 editor will let you build a multisample instrument pretty quickly and Kontakt can import an EXS24 instrument. Halion instruments can be converted by ESC. If you have the Extreme Sample Converter you will have a few options I think. I don't know if that product has a generic instrument builder which you can then use to save in Kontakt format (anybody?) - would be pretty cool if it did.

Right -- get a copy of EXSC and convert jRhodes3 soundfont into Kontakt format and give that a try. Try MrRay73 too, it rocks. You can download MrRay from kvraudio.

Kontakt loads your Rhodes fine natively, Jeff.
