I can vi too, but prefer to have a nice kitchen sink handy just in case. :-)!wq

that's why i loved frontpage. You can do just about anything with it if you know how, but even a beginner can do the basics.Meffy wrote:BTW, Chase -- I would NOT recommend either vi or my beloved emacs for your purposes. i just downloaded emacs andMeffy wrote:emacs does syntax highlighting for any number of langauges. I even set up a highlighting parser for my own QML, an ultra-simple "quick markup language" I wrote for our interns to use.

Thanks for the tip, LBN. Nvu looks brilliant. It's about time an open source project produced a better HTML editor. Adding site management and better CSS features -- among other things -- to Mozilla Composer is a brilliant move by the Linspire people who headed this up. With Gimp and Nvu, I should finally be able to easily complete sites without any licensed software. Cool!LBN wrote:As mentioned in another thread there is Nvu which is an open-source HTML editor based on the Mozilla Composer code. It also includes tools for managing an entire site.

Well, if you'd decide to look stuff up on UseNet or IRC, you could do it with EMACS. Or play .mp3s to relax to.jtxx000 wrote:i just downloaded emacs and... it's got a lot of stuff there. what's with all the nonstandard shortcuts though? and what's a practical use of emacs over a standard text editor?
