Ok, I searched the PDF manual and it looks like there's no way to put a bank select message into a clip? Surely there's some way to do this! Program change, that's simple, but I have a bazillion banks on my Motif ES Rack and my Fantom X6. How do I get to them? :help: :help: :help:

Any help appreciated!

Well, CC#0 will let you select a bank, but only up to 127. Perhaps you could move around the banks so that the ones you're using in your edit lie within this range?
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

This one is not quite so easy.. but it is possible if you know that one bank select message = two continuous controller messages: cc0 for the MSB and cc32 for the LSB. Setting these two values correctly using Tracktion's cc editing functions should work ok, though its not very friendly.. you on a pc? If so I made a simple SE plug which might help a bit..

Yeah, I just finally dug around enough to discover the following:

You have to insert two controller messages at the beginning of a clip - CC#0 and CC#32 (bank select/bank select fine), then a program change. It's a pain in the neck (no simple way to just insert it) but it works fine. :?

You can get to the rest by using cc32 aswell..

I'm on a PC and anything that makes this easier would be VERY appreciated! I've been trying to get the bloody automation line to set CC0 at 63 and CC32 at 4 but it's insanely frustrating as all I have to do is twitch and I'm past the place I need to be. AAArrrrgggghhhh!

All help GREATLY appreciated, it's driving me mad!

Expanding the window view will help with that twitching ;).
But it is a seriously long approach to take for what is such a simple operation.

Maybe you should check out that SE plug that IIRs mentioned.

try this plug

Its original purpose was just to provide 128 preset slots, so you can create fxb banks that correspond to your hardware preset names. This allows you to choose patches by name from within Tracktion and is a good workaround for the lack of patch name scripts as in Cubase.. but I also added two fields for bank MSB & LSB (you can click on these to type in the value directly, no need to use the knobs) and a button to send the message. This allows you to cue up the correct bank select message for each patch name, even though it doesn't know when to send it. You may find automating the button easier than editing the cc's in the piano roll..?

Thanks for the help IIRs :D :D :D ! Every little bit helps, it'd certainly be a LOT easier to automate the button than fiddle with the pencil for a long time. Even expanding the window only helps a bit.. lol..

if you have just a few favorite banks, consider exporting MIDI files containing just the bank select message for each. You could then just drag n drop when you need them..

Good suggestion, I might just do that! :)

Final note on all this: a BIG THANKS to IIRs for the SE PatchManager plugin, which has me going with full control over my Motif ES Rack and my Fantom now! Automating the button did the trick, that combined with Ts patch change stuff have me rocking and rolling all night long! :D  :hihi:

Now I can layer, stack, and split to my hearts content with my hardware and save my CPU cycles for fancy effects! :hihi:
