I agree with those who have brought up VSampler. It can be hard to work with in some ways due to the lack of a really detailed manual as many features go unexplained and undocumented, but absolutely nothing I have used or seen used is easier for sample import and instrument building. I prefer the gui of NNXT, but that gets you into something toatlly different and a lot more money for Reason. I use it as my instrument builder for just about everything I do with Dangerous Bear, because of its excellent sample editor and sf2 export ability. It also imports a lot of formats, including .akp, sf2 and Giga, as well as hosting VST effects which you can aplly at the sample, group or instrument level and even print to the samples. An amazing underrated tool.

Did it give any error message or error codes? I just tried it in the t2 demo here and it worked flawlessly so I haven't been able to reproduce the error. Did it crash when you loaded shortcircuit or when you used it? I'd love to know exactly what caused it to crash.Slacknote wrote:In a very bad way, it made T2 crash.

OK question one: I installed it on the laptop and copied the dll to my studio pc, is that allowed or do I need to run the exe?claes@vemberaudio wrote:Did it give any error message or error codes? 1) That's ok, don't forget to copy the other files used though (morphEQ-preset.xml & shortcircuit.chm).
2) The sample mode control is located just below the waveform-view. It's set to 'forward' by default, change it to 'forward shot'.

Up till now it's stable and I guess it crashed because I forgot those files. I'm going to look into it over the course of the week and if it says stable I'll think of buying it.
Thanks again

FL Studio sounds perfect for what you're looking for -
You don't have to map the drum samples to keys or anything. You just drag and drop them from the browser on the left-hand side of the screen onto the step sequencer and begin programming!
There are no keys (C0, C1, D2, ...) associated with the samples. I like this concept because it is unintuitive to have to play chromatic notes when you're looking for a certain sound - in FL, each sound is represented by its own name, rather than a musical note.

Guru :I need a very basic sampler. I want to throw a bunch of drum hits at it and then start programing beats without having to fiddle with mapping for an hour.
Any tips?

FL can rewire itself, and also function as a vst instrument.Slacknote wrote: but does FL studio work in T2?

I use FL Studio and Tracktion. I don't rewire them to save cpu resources. So instead I just render acidized wav files or do the whole drum track in FL Studio and arrange the drums how I plan to map my parts out. FL Studio is a very good scetch pad and great for making drum loops. For 150 $ I don't think you'll find a more flexible option and you will get another host out of the deal.

use WaveJoiner from here:Slacknote wrote:Back in the good old Akai S2000 days I would just throw all my samples in one big wav, slice it up with Recycle and throw the Recycle file at the S2000. This worked really well, however these days I figured there would be more sofisticated ways to go about this.

and VSampler with its auto slicing function and you have 100 of samples setup it one minute!
