You can get hold of a cut down version of BFD with computer music this issue (August no.89).

I got hold of a copy and must say I'm very impressed at such a quality give-away.

It's 16bit (not 24bit), has only 1 drum kit and has limited velocity layers per drum, but you all the rest is totally the same and only cost £5.99, great.

If you like nskit7 then it's like that but has alot more flexability plus midi groove etc.

Thanks fxpansion 8)

Which sound has the drumkit; acoustic or electronic?

Does it have both Mac and PC versions? I've always wanted to get BFD. This might tide me over or, more likely, convince me to buy.

It's definitely picking this one up Ben. Been playing with it for a few days, and i really want the full BFD now ... but this will more than do for the minute. Mix room mikes with overheads, with the direct sound etc ...

Only other shame is the lack of multi-out support :( Can work around it in the usual ways, but would be nice if Tracktion could split midi tracks on a per note basis ...

Awesome, I've also wanted to try it but didn't have the opportunity. Now I just need a convenient location to but the mag in California :( Anyone know if you can get a subscription in the US?
If you have requests for Korg VST features or changes, they are listening at https://support.korguser.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

Glad you like it guys :)

Trust me you definitely will want to buy it when it hits 1.5... virtual damping, free output routing and many other fun things... mwahahah ;)

(sorry, the free version won't get updated to 1.5..)

chico.co.uk - yeah the multi outs was one of the restrictions we had to put on it in order to make it a usable, non-timing out demo.

Yes, I've been a subscriber (here in California) for several years. It's very expensive, especially with the current exchange rate, but still a bit cheaper than buying every issue at Barnes & Noble and of course much easier. You also get them several weeks before they usually hit the newsstands in the US. I think I get my money's worth out of it in information and freebies. Anyway, there's subscription information in each issue. You can subscribe through www.computermusic.co.uk also, but that seems to be even more expensive. The US rate from the magazine is 70 pounds.

Any chance you can set up the free version on an FTP server or something? We in the US have limited access to CM. I'll even give you $5!

Not sure... the potential demand for such a thing is huge, and that amount of downloads for such a large amount of data (it's approaching 1GB I think) is going to hit pretty hard. Hence the magazine deployment.

I know that CM doesn't get there for about a month after it comes out here.. hang tight is all I can say :(

You can subscribe. The magazine is shipped, in an acetate bag, from Switzerland. It arrives like clockwork. Pretty expensive though. I've really enjoyed the CD's and DVD's that come with the magazine, but I haven't ever learned much from the magazine itself. It contains lots of advertising that's local to the UK. Every now and again some article is a gem, and I sometimes benefit from the odd review or tutorial. Once a year or so, there's something really great included on the CD (DVD now). Like the Boesendorfer Piano last year. Like BFD now.

If you promise to shut up about Live for a bit, I'll mail you a copy from this side of the pond ;)

*EDIT* I mean a copy of the mag from the shops, i don't mean i'll copy the cd. That would be a bit offside ...

Is this a BRAND NEW edition? Is it AFTER the hip-hop one? I'm just checking since the closest B&N is a ways away and they have the hip-hop one. Thanks.
