well when working on shifting frequencies, it kind of pushes the other node settings around. so its not "strict". For example, i do a high cut off down to say 1k, and then any other changes still affects the cutoff. i struggle daily to get the exact sound i want.

I think one of the reasons for buying a set of good, expensive plugs is so as not to have to ask yourself this kind of question all the time -- an investment in some peace of mind, and a commitment to learning how to use one good set of tools properly instead of constantly scouring the download pages for the Next Fantastic Thing.lharless wrote:i'd like to ask a question.
am i going crazy or is it always this hard to find other plugs useful once you go waves?
how is it for those of you that have the waves plugs?
im starting to question my judgement here. am i missing out on things, just because my opinion is a little colored? or do i really have the best set of plugs on the market? could i get better? if so, where do i go to buy? lol.

I think this goes for everything related to computers and music in combination: alot of people just need to find the latest and greatest tools, be it hardware or software, instead of finding a good set and learning to use it properly. Just like buying a great guitarr doesn't make anyone a great guitar player, buying a great EQ doesn't make anyone a good mixing engineer. But some people seems to think that they need everything to be able to produce: I'm not directing this at anyone (no not even you Ronpethu wrote:I think one of the reasons for buying a set of good, expensive plugs is so as not to have to ask yourself this kind of question all the time -- an investment in some peace of mind, and a commitment to learning how to use one good set of tools properly instead of constantly scouring the download pages for the Next Fantastic Thing.lharless wrote:i'd like to ask a question.

i realize youre not directing it at me, because im just asking for an easier functioning EQ tool. Hell, if Audition's parametrics, which i own, could be ported to vst, i would use it. I dont want to mix in audition anymore, and i really just want to use T2. Im willing to suck it up and use native t2 eq for now, i dont really like nyquist as much as i should... so im just going to wait it out.

It's not uncommon Ron for EQ's to do what you are saying. I'm not saying that every one does it, but many EQ's are this way. If you adjust frequencies that overlap, something has got to give. One of them has to move or be adjusted. Maybe I'm hearing you wrong. If so, then disregard all this.
Also, if you want, remember you can still put two EQ's in parralel OR serial inside a rack. This may prevent having so much being changed. Just an idea though.

Cracked stuff? Are you talking to me? I didn't mention anything about cracked stuff. Maybe you're not talking to me.

Ron, I'm sorry, but this is bordering on self-torment. You said you liked the GlissEQ. Go buy it. Now. Save yourself the aggravation. And all that typing here.
When the T strip comes out you'll have another EQ that may or may not be useful for you. Just go git Gliss. Now, young man.

I kind of thought that, but since he didn't respond to it till now I didn't know. Maybe he read the word "serial" in my post and didn't know what that was. Oh, well.

Nope, I seriously didn't know if Ron was referring to something koolkeys said or what I quoted. With Ron you never can telljens wrote:that was supposed to be tongue in cheek, wasn't it?braj wrote:lharless wrote:end your troubles and buy the waves plugins. hell, you may even be able to find a cracked copy out there somewhere for that matter.

Seems like we've hijacked a thread about the channel strip a little, but maybe something like Linear Phase Graphic EQ 2 would be be worth a look while you wait, Ron? Apologies if you've already discounted this one.
