Anyone using an Ozone on an older PC with XP/T1 or 2/Reason?

I have an older Gateway that I've been using as a musical sketchpad w/ a POD, T1.6 NFR, and Reason.

I would like something that has a microphone input and midi controller, all with an ASIO driver so it works with both Reason and Tracktion.

I have an Oxygen, but it's generally connected to my desktop, nice and neat, and don't really like ripping it out each time I want to go somewhere with the laptop.

The Ozone seems like a good solution, but I know there are others by Edirol that provide nearly the same functionality.

FWIW, this is an older Gateway with a 1.33Ghz CPU, 768MB of RAM.

Any thoughts?

Should be fine with XP
The Ozone is a Pretty nice little Swiss army knife and has some features that are better than other products in this range. Notably an XLR input and a Balanced 1/4 inch in and phantom power and the ability to record 24/96.
I liked it best for size / features ...Mine fits in my lappy bag even.

Yeah still XP, but an older laptop. I want to get the M-Audio studio pack, and be able to travel with it and Ozone in an overhead compartment on a plane, so even when I am outta town, I can still edit drums, record soft synths, and do arrangements of audio tracks all with just my laptop and one extra device.....not the Oxygen, + another external interface, + etc. etc.

I am not expecting it to be a super high quality audio interface; just enough to use it to get ideas down when i need to.

Sounds like it'll fit the bill, and it's only $30 more than I would have spent on a Tascam 122, which I've tried and works, but is too much crap to carry.

Ive had problems with it on older computers running win2k....it will drop out sayin there is not enough pci bandwidth from time to time....so if your usb controller travels over your pci bus....you could have problems....regardless of how many pci slots are filled and IRQ management....older comuters have weaker power supplies generally too i think...and when i have a power drain like when the ac or heat kicks on from automatic thermostat....that slight dip in power to the pci bus and the ozone drops out.....you may notice this, may not....didnt have a problem on a modern laptop with XP

The Ozone has an External power suppy ...needed to power the soundcard DA convertors etc.
The oxygen did not have this.

A price to pay is you need power ...but for all the Ozone does , i am not surprised.
I read somewhere that MAudio claim it is because of the better AD convertors that are used over systems that do not need external power.

Funny cus i'm selling an M-Audio studio pack but i'm in the U.K.......
Otherwise I can vouch for sound quality of the Ozone.
The mic pre is no slouch either.
I use a Rode NT1 for getting a really crisp nuetral vocal/acoustic sound down and The Hi-Z guitar input gives plenty of gain to plug straight in to amplitube.
I would recommend one.

Yeah I am jumping back to a job where I do a lot of traveling IT work, and it'd be nice not to miss a beat (pun fully intended:D) and be able to continue to work with my soft synths and drums in Reason while I am away.

And with Tracktion's super easy way of taking a snip of audio and sliding and copying anywhere you want, I can do rough arrangements of songs on my laptop, and then just move the session over the wireless network back to my main workstation when I get home.

I kinda considered getting a Fernandes Nomad and a Line6 Guitar Port too, but that gets to be a bit much on some of these itty bitty airplanes.

Perhaps if I got a used Steinberger import, I could ship it with the rest of my tools to wherever I go. That might work too.
