I'll do it, let me know what you are looking for.
Super clean, warm, super loud, tube compressed with slight distortion? more bass? more high end? more wide? dry in your face mix? or anything else you can put in words.

maby a few tricks are needed in the edit mixdown of the vox IMO!!
What did you have in mind?

i would have extra vox takes on the bits with backing, hard paned! a stronger but warmer compreshion over the hole vox

if you wish you can also send me yr edit! i have UAD-1 & powercore

but try get some more vox takes in there to play about with

OK last night I couldn't sleep so I did a remix.
I changed the Kick drum and overdosed the Bass to give the mix a driving bottom end making it a bit more aggressive.
Plus many other tiny spices.
Overall I am happy with the results except for the "Come into my life" phrase that needs over dubbing in my opinion.

So what do you think JV? Others?

Hey thats great! You got the bass pumping the verse much more. Also I like the very subtly delay on the main vox. You made the vocal sound much bigger as well.

Excellent work!

JV :D

i like your mastering a lot jv, i think the bass needs definate EQing though, at least on everyone elses mix ;)

Pissing contest!! :hihi:

here's mine

details:

Drums: these took the most work. First of all I mapped a couple of hardware knobs to new volume filters on the kick & snare tracks, and dialled in some dynamics (with my eyes shut!). Both went through a certain channel strip plug that I can't tell you about, where I gated them carefully, and applied a little EQ. Then I added a bit more snap with a Mackie compressor on each channel set to upward expansion.

I then sub-grouped the drums and ran them through a rack containing a 4-band distortion of my own design and a Mackie side-chain comp. The distorted drums were fed into the compressor ins, while the side-chain was fed from the dry drum signal, and the compressor was set to upward / downard expansion. The results are mixed back in with the dry signal: its a little trick I use to fatten up drums without losing the original dynamic range. I then automated the distortion to make it harder and brighter in the choruses, but warmer and woolier in the verses.

The final touch was a bit of snare reverb (another plug I can't tell you about) which is very subtle in the verses, a bit louder in the chorus, and quite noticable at the end.

Bass: I think the biggest production mistake you made was to dramatically over compress the bass! I tried to fix this by sidechaining a Mackie compressor from the kick drum, but if you have an uncompressed version I urge you to go back to it!

Guitars: I replaced your panning with Haas delays from the mda stereo plug. This tends to create a much more 3 dimensional mix than simple pan-potted stereo. I also replaced most of the reverbs with a single better reverb on the group.

Vox: I replaced the reverbs with a very short subtle plate type setting (from the same mystery reverb plug). Thats it!
