I had some early problems with T1 but they were mainly due to my CPU. Once I got those resolved the syatem was rock solid. My system was solid with T2 as well until I installed this last release.
I have the problems real time in Tracktion but they are also there when rendered. I'm going to drop back a release tonight and see if I still have the problem. I use Tascam as I my dedicated sound card for audio playback (iTunes, WinAmp and WMP) and I don't have any glitches outside of Tracktion (but these apps are not very resource intensive).

i use a tascam us428 not as my audio interface but as control... if they are similar i guess i could try to hook her in and see if it has the same issue? are you sure you have all the win updates and the latest drivers?

I'm as up to date as I can be. Unfortunately I think the Tascam driver is quite a bit more sensitive tha others out there, so us US122 users might just see limitiations earlier.

Not giving up on T2, just stepping back 1 release, where I am pretty sure I had some stability. If it still happpens on an older release then I know something else has screwed up.
Cheers...

I wasn't using Final Mix either. I only ever add that, erm, at the end...

OKay... I reinstalled T2 V2.0.1.4 March 29 build and I no longer have the buzzing and clickiong problem. I copied the Mackie plugins to another directory so I have both old and new versions of Final Mix available and both seem to function fine. I noticed that CPU utilization appears to be lower with the older version, but it was still low enough with the newer version that it should not have caused the problems I saw. So I am sticking with the old for now.

darcyb62, I'm glad to see it is working out for you....let's hope it stays that way.
Thanks for the link to the Tascam site.
For those who didn't read it, basically it comes down to the computer not supplying enough power for the 122 and so a powered USB port is recommended.
I acted on the information and went out and bought a powered USB hub - $19.99 for the cheapest one, which I bought (when will I learn!?!??!).
Interesting effects to say the least.
When I first plugged in the Tascam, into the slot farthest left, the popping was so bad it sounded like I had recorded a track of rice crispies. ARGH!!!!!
Okay.....patience.....
So I checked all of the settings and rebooted.
Same thing.
The optical mouse was in the same port so I removed it.
Same thing. Rebooted. Same thing.
I plugged the 122 into the farthest right USB slot and rebooted.
Bingo!!!!!
Suddenly, like magic....the pops and clicks were gone!
Except.....suddenly the 122 just stopped.
ARGH again....
Patience......
I restarted it and it ran fine for a couple of hours.
I didn't record, just monitored.
So far so good.
I guess since USB is serial, where in line you place a device can matter. Only how do you know which USB slot is which (I have two on one side of the notebook and one on the other). I know which PCI slot you use for a device can matter too. FWIW, I did try different USB slots before trying this but it didn't matter.
For this particular setup I can use 4 USB slots anyway (keyboard, mouse, external 7200 rpm drive, US-122).
Oh, removing all of the bells and whistles in XP has reduced the average RAM usages from an average of around 475 MB to 315 MB while T2 is running. It makes the computer less enjoyable for regular usage but I guess can make sense for audio. I am going to do a clean install of everything tomorrow when my 1 GBG stick of RAM arrives and I'll try with more funtions enabled and see what happens. I'll have 1256 MB of RAM, and I doubt I'll be using even half so.....
For everyone having difficulties with T2 only, I wonder if reformatting and doing a clean install would help.
In any case, I will be redoing the PC tomorrow and laying some tracks. I'll report back.
Thanks very much to everyone......

Not to rain on your USB parade of peripherals. But why in bandwidth's name would you want a USB mouse & keyboard when you have PS2 connectors going hungry?
Running audio on USB and moving data to/from the USB hard drive is playing very close to the edge of Pop and Click city. Not surprised you can only run 4 devices. That pipe is full. Sure, USB 2.0 promises 480 megabits dancing down the wire. But that's a max amount, on the salt flats, with a tailwind. With overhead and retries and less than perfect drivers, it's popity-pop-click. The USB protocol was never meant for really time-critical stuff like multi-channel audio. It amazes me it can work at all.
So if you have other hard drive options, you might want to consider them before you get into some heavy tracking traffic.
My 2cents.

This kind of sleuthery is what I'm talking about! It seems to have gone unnoticed, but don't worry I saw the post.darcyb62 wrote:OKay...
