Hmm that is interesting. I was just waiting to by the retail version box so I can get all the vst. Now the new Final Mix is broken. Alright fess up, who did it?
Just trying to learn about recording, that is if my head is not too hard.

It seems to introduce bad pops and crackles.

Post

pffft...

The problem still isn't isolated, and some of us can't reliably reproduce the 'problem'. I'd hesitate to say definitively that it's "broken" yet.

With the amount of people that are having the issue, there is obviously some problem with it. Its the same issue, consistently reproduceable on everyones machine who has it and inconsistent from the previous version of tracktion 2. Something is clearly broken.

Well, I agree that something's broken. ;) But I think that you can't narrow it down to "just" FinalMix.

I agree... I am having issues and Final mix has yet to be used on my project. It could be that the new Final Mix is exacerbating an underlying issue within T2.

Exactly.

Finalmix was maxing out my cpu.Lots of edits in T2 max out and get jittery.
I've switched back to 1.6 for now and everthing is smooth and I can still use the mackie plugs.
ho hum.
We'll see if anything happens to improve it.

it seems that the t2 update had more problems than not

my question is: if i go ahead and buy the $20 us US upgrade from T1 to T2, am I going to be buying this buggy version, or will I just get the key that unlocks the demo? And if it's the demo, should I be looking to update from that, or stay put until the new updates come out that fix the current problems. I don't want to update a working system until I need to.

I'm fine doing audio, as is, with T1 (latest version of T1)... so I'm in a tight spot right now.

I have the money to get the upgrade to T2, but I'm hearing alot of crap that just makes me want to keep using Cubase for a while until things get better.

I really love T1.

OH! and I have a FR... you know the little "monitor" buttons in cubase? the one that lets you hear both recording and live signals? can we get something like that in tracktion?

when im using my US-122 with cubase, i can just monitor the direct sound and let the recording go and record "dry" un-effected signal onto other tracks. when i hit record in tracktion, i get a latency between when i strike the note and when it makes it back to my ears... with or without direct monitoring.

im doing live recordings, and then some folks want to go back and overdub some things in for one reason or another, and it is impossible for me to do anything that requires overdubbing in T1 at the moment. My current clients have had to use the crappy copy of cubase that came with the US-122...and it only allows 2 plugs on each track... blah!

wish i could get this system set up using tracktion. i'd swear off cubase forever. i swear it.

rock on!

I don't know about the accuracy of that statement, but imo the problems introduced are much more serious in nature than the "dropped note bug" which has an easy (albeit irritating & shouldn't be necessary) work-around.

That pretty much sums up what I think. In fact, both quotes together explain why I'm reluctant to purchase T2.
*I don't use cubase
