I'm using an old Roland RD 300 DP as an 88 note keyboard, and and old DX7 as an 61 note keyboard. I set the DX7 directly on top of the RD, which is very solid, and allows me to have the two keyboards close enough together to make it like a dual manual organ. I bought them both new, years ago, and I'm comfortable with the action on both. I haven't found a newer controller that would allow me to set another keyboard on top, without risking crushing the knobs and faders, like I can on the RD. I don't like the typical keyboard stands on the market, because they require you to set your keyboards too far apart for my taste, and are generally too spongy to give a good solid support. I've used this same set up since 1987, and it's worked well for me. I still love the feel of the DX7. My sounds have improved dramatically with the addition of the softsynths I have, so I don't use any of the internal sounds from the original keyboards.
