MIDI Controller activating short-cuts

I'm having a difficult time getting my midi controller (EDIROL PCR-80) to work in T2.
I've read two threads in this forum and acted on all the information, and all my controller is doing is activating short cuts (turning looping on and off, toggling between the edit and the projects window)
I've selected an instrument vst, enabled end-to-end, triple checked my inputs and outputs, ensured the input icon is showing a keyboard (did this by turning off "per-track view for input devices" in options)
The level in the input icon isn't affected by hitting notes.
Anyone have ideas? The manual isn't giving me any clues.
Another important thing is my keyboard isn't showing up in the "External Controllers" panel in the "Settings" tab. Should it be there?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.
I did that, and now the icon is showing output, but i'm not hearing anything.
One thing I was wondering: I've got the midi out on my keyboard going to midi in on the card. Just one cable, which works in Cubase. For some reason or other, do I need two cables to operate a controller in tracktion?

enable "end to end" by the transport controlls or press play & test again!brookerb wrote:Thanks for the reply.

if it still dosent work you have not loaded the vsti "filter" properley!
load a demo tune & test it in there on a track with the MDA synth or Tracktion sampler loaded!
Good Luck

set it as the MCU controller in the settings pageMr. Tingle wrote:brookerb - how do you get your controller to control the short cuts?
I've been trying to work this out and have no idea.
but i wouldent reconmend using a keybord!
if you have a midi controller that can be programmed then you can set it to do some of the commands but not all
