Is ther ea quick way to set all tracks to mute status?

Beno..? This should probably be on the right click that resets all track mute/solo status there should be two more options..

1) Mute All
2) Solo All

(Yes! Solo all would be very useful for the way I work as well.)

Please can we add this to the requested features thread.

"mute all" I can understand, but what exactly would a "solo all" function do for you?

Solo all is a great option. It's used when you want everything to be louder than everything else!

mute all = shhhhhh & solo all = solo none

but i dont mind if thay add it! just get them to fix the fliping solo to work like it should!!!

maby a 2'nd solo option that only solos & dosent free up any cpu would be easyer to implemt than fixing the currant solo

What the heck? I don't get it.

There's no reason to want to mute all. You press stop. Or turn down the master volume. Why would you want to mute all? Why would you want to solo all? Solo all means NOTHING is muted. Ie. normal operation. What the heck?

When you press solo on one track, it mutes everything but that one track. Already there, already useful.

When you CTRL+solo another track, both are soloed and the rest are muted. There's no reason to want to solo all!

The only thing I could see being useful is a "Restore Track Status" button so that NOTHING is soloed OR muted. Except... waitasec, there it is. Never saw this function before, but Tracktion being so wonderfully intuitive, I got it FIRST TRY-- right-click a mute/solo filter (any one) and you are given the option to "reset all soloed/muted tracks".

It's already there!

Reason for mute all.

Ok. Say I'm working on a song that has a 100 tracks and I want to do a mix. What's the first thing I do? I want to make a good base drum sound and use it to base the rest of the mix on. This means that I will have to MUTE ALL tracks and then turn on the bass drum. Then get the base drum sound right and then unmute the next track. And so on. That way I can be sure I 'build up the song' from scratch. If I simply used solo in this istuation and then kept adding new tracks to the solo select set I would not be working the way I want to.

Reason for solo all.

Say Im working on a 50 track song and I want to solo 30 tracks. It's faster to SOLO ALL and unclick 20 than to click solo on 30 tracks. If you get my drift. I know I could do it using mute the other way round. But it would be nice to have the option so I can work anyway I want at the time.

Just to clarify. When I work with my songs I usualy have about 100 tracks. And I tend to work with about 30 tracks switched on/off at any one time. I keep switching them around. And I would just like better tools to be able to work this way.

I would also like a tool that remembers various different sets of mute/solo so that I can quickly flick between different scenes of solo/mute combinations. That would be a GREAT help!!!

For muting a lot of tracks in groups, its easier to route them all to another empty track as a subgroup and mute that track. Soloing doesnt work like that for some reason, but muting different groups kinda gives the same result.

t2's gui never made it for me with more than 40 tracks (all is soooo slooowww then) so how does it work for you, is there a trick ? and mute/unmute all IS a good idea.

OK, I can see how wanting to mute/unmute whole groups at a time is useful, but that's not what was originally said.

So, based on the new clarification I can see how this brand new (not clarified before my first response, which was to a mute/solo "all" function) feature would be useful, but not the originally asked for feature.

Mute/unmute all is STILL completely useless. You will always want to hear at least one track, right? When you press solo, all other tracks are muted. And if you want to unmute all, it's already there. Right click the filter and restore all muted/soloed tracks.

I agree that 40 tracks would get too slow for my system, though.

And I also agree that if you're doing 100 individual tracks, it's time to start using submixes.
