<shrug> I'll admit, I didn't get to beta-test the most recent one very much or I would have noticed it. Sometimes other aspects of life have to take precedence.

You people have no concept of problem-solving.

I'll restate my observations.
I started having buzzing, crackling and popping problems about a week ago. This was similar to a problem I experienced on an older machine so I though it had more to do with the size of the project I was working than having applied the latest release of Tracktion. Note that this was without Final Mix being used but there was more plugins than I usually used on this project. I was able to get it somewhat workable by freezing tracks but the problem never really went away.

I started to see a few others having similar probmes so I thought it was to coincendental to not be related to the T2 upgrade.

I reinstalled the March 29 build of T2 went back to the project I was working on and buzzing, crackling and popping were gone. Before I reinstalled the March 29 build of T2 I copied the Mackie plugin directory so I can now use Final Mix from both builds.

Both work fine with the March 28 build of T2. Unfortunately I never tested the Final Mix from the old version with the latest T2 build but that wouldn't tell me anything anywats as I was having these problems without Final Mix being used at all.

A nice attempt to be clever. ;) However, part of my point that I've always been making is that the same characteristics are observed without any connection to Final Mix. For example, I'm getting pops and clicks without ANY plug-ins whatsoever. The only thing that changed between the last time it worked smoothly and now is the core Tracktion program.

So, even though I know you were partly tongue-in-cheek, you were partially serious, too; and the response is very simple: because T2 is NOT working perfectly otherwise.

No it isn't, but just because the same symptoms are exhibited in other situations does not imply that they are the result of the same underlying cause. They merely show that there does seem to be an underlying problem with the new version which causes pops and clicks, however the fact that people get pops which go away when FM is removed indicates that there may also be an underlying problem with the new FM which is only apparent when used in conjunction with the new T.

I already agreed with that; however, my point is that if there's ONLY a problem with FM when used in the newest T, and the newest T has problems regardless of FM, then the correct step is to worry about T and fix that first, at which point in time FM may begin playing nicely. And if not, THEN it's time to look at FM.

Plus, many people are still unable to reproduce the problems supposedly found with FM. If it can't be reproduced consistently, it's still hard to say for sure that it's an FM problem.

 still dont get it do ya?

The topper is that FM works fine otherwise. If it only chooses to play not nicely with the latest T, it DOES in fact imply that it's likely not an FM problem at all.

Hold on there, I "get it" perfectly, what's with the hostility?

Like my post stated, I'm sure there is a problem with T, unfortunately, but that doesn't rule out a problem with FM too. Since they are developed by different people , surely there is no reason they can't both be looked at by their respective developers?

Anyway, clearly my first post wasn't meant too seriously and I know Lunch Money enjoys an argument with a bit of pedantry to spice it up.

piaz-- You mean you don't keep your old copies?
Nope, I do not - I was tired of my 200Mo "previous drivers", especially because my hardware updates have never failed (though I do not want to go back to that kind of discussions, I know hardware is standard and PC are polymorphous).

I frankly do not want to get into PC problem solving when home - time consuming and worth of other people jobs. I have enough in mine.
