I think you would be welcome there, and who is better to learn from than the so-called pros? Its a pretty blurry line btwn pros and amateurs nowadays anyway.

Music by the people, for the people and of the people!

or sumthing like that.

yeh, I guess, they seem pretty blatant about who they're aimed at though...

I liked OSX audio... maybe its disappeared into an internet bermuda triangle...

Actually there is some interesting stuff about actual recording at this place:
http://homerecording.com/bbs/

There's a guy who posts there, Harvey Gerst who appears to be a bit of a legend (he's in his 60's)... He's done a scarily in-depth thread on microphones, first sticky in the microphones section. I'm not used to reading stuff thats not about CPU speed, DAW features and bugs etc, and is actually about sound and how it's captured.

Not that there is anything wrong with that other stuff of course...

.. my guess is that TDC simply doesnt have the time to fix osxa.
i´d´prefer if someone else would run the site and doing it properly.
(and properly here means just that the forums are up and running, cause the news section wasnt really a news section.)
its not the first time its down, and this time its almost a month now.

Hmmm, funny, I was about to moderate this thread and now it moderates itself :hihi:

Honestly, I'm scared to go anywhere else than osxa. I've been there from the beginning, and somehow it has not only emerged into my fav board for thread hijacking, it has also - no secret - become my main platform of getting the word out for my Mac software. No osxa means I will have to actually do some real marketing to survive. Something I would rather not do in any aggressive manner. It wasn't necessary on osxa. It worked without saying "Hey everybody, you must have this!", it felt more like telling friends about it.

Sure, it's basically the same on KVR, and it's gonna be less frustrating here now that I have instant PC versions. But will people here or anywhere else understand Kanker when he's happy he got serial number 0001?!?

Cheers,

;) Urs

I will! I will!

Seriously, we're all the same guys and gals who still share the same interests. We'll find each other. And the hijacking shall continue, the spread of Zebra will happen. I mean, we are having this conversation, so it IS possible.

You really should check out OSXrecording.com. Other than a few formatting things, it looks like it's going to be a nice place. Mike seems pretty dedicated to making it happen for us and he assures that Bandwidth is not an issue. And who would have thunk it, there is news on there.

I'm not saying that I won't go back to osxa, but this seems like the best replacement option to come up so far.

Strange, nobody seems to be missing me... :-o

Ah well, my fault, I have been away for so long, so who should remember me anyway... but it's good to see that there are still a few alive in the refuge camp. :hihi:

Got my PMI group buy piano samples yesterday... If it hadn't been for OSX audio I wouldn't have heard about it... Still acoustic pianos seem to be the flavour of the month. I bet the next version of Logic will have one built in...
And without your help, I wouldn't have gotten the refund! Wow, I am really enjoying the pianos. My favorite is the Old Lady, but there is so much good stuff in the bundle, I don't know where to start...

P.S.: Do you have a different name in every forum...? Applepie, Zoing, Dairy Giant... Whoever you are... :-) Did you get my feedback on Northernsounds, by the way...?

Post

I did, Thanks!. The Diary Giant is the music name, Zoing is a relic from the past. Apple pie was in the middle

The Pianos are great, but I'm having quite a few issues with patches not finding the right samples. I actually find the dark estonia patches sound really nice in some stuff I'm doing...

Are you on EXS? I think there was something about mismatched patches in the Northernsounds thread. I think Michiel had quite a few issues with the group buy (I had some problems myself, too) - obviously, some of the disks were burnt with wrong stuff on them. However, I am quite sure that he will come up with the correct patches soon. He's quite responsive - but I guess right now, he's busy with the above mentioned problems.

Don't do much DAW stuff either, mostly designing some new dsp parts for your future pleasure...

Well... hmmm... I miss some of the rants and stuff... I hope it's gonna be back soon!

Cheers,

Ready for that tease any time Urs! Or are you gonna make us wait for osxa?

Btw, are we in "buy Zebra now and get a free upgrade to Z2" territory, or does that only happen once it's officially announced?

No, I've decided that all Zebra 1.5 sales on or after May 1st 2005 get the upgrade for free.

Teasing? - Here are two crappy demos I made for the beta team, but not for official use (the composition is pretty *bad* and the features demonstrated are not in final state):

http://www.u-he.com/music/Z2ArtStrings.mp3 (1x Zebra2 + Loops)
http://www.u-he.com/music/Z2CombChaos.mp3 (2x Zebra2 + Loops)

However, the comb filters have obviously improved dramatically from Version 1.5 8)

Cheers,

;) Urs
