I really would like to have shortcuts for mute and solo! It would be great time-saver, since I mute and solo track all the time. The shortcut should affect the track(s) that's:

1) selected
2) contain selected clips
3) contain the pianoroll you're working with.

If you want mute/solo all you could select a track and press ctrl-a first.

Usefull enough to be put on the ToDo-list, don't you agree?

Guys, there are lots of good ideas but I can't comment on every single one. I only have so many hours in the day. I just chime in here and there on feature requests but rest assured I have read every single thread here. If I've already replyed once to a thread, you should definitely think I've seen your request.

i still really don't get the point of this. if you want to work on another track to set the levels and stuff, you just solo it! and then you want to build another on that after? ctrl-click solo and they're both the only ones playing.

i simply don't get what you want to do that you can't already do. mute-all = stop, solo-all = normal. :?:
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

I think the idea is to mute all then unmute the tracks one at a time as you build up the mix. like this: mute all - unmute kick snare hat and o-h. now solo snare and tweak - click solo again to return to your drumsound. Now unmute the bass ... ok it sounds good, now mute all and unmute your fourteen orchestra mics (you're making Aerosmith's dream on orchestral version 30th anniversary edition) and proceed likewise. now unmute all and see how the mix is going....

Beacuase some of us liek to build a mix from a blank sheet of paper. It just feels nice to start from blank. I.e. To have everything muted.

The end result of workflow can be accomplished just as easy with submixes and solo/mute that already exist.

It's not that I'm arguing with the FR... it's an FR, after all. An extra practically transparent feature that could help some people? Sure, add it in. :D Put it in the same mini-menu with "reset solo/mute" and it's completely invisible. That'd be cool. ;) I'm only arguing because it was implied by someone (don't even remember who) that it's currently broken, which it's not.

I like the 'blank page' idea, too, but I use shift+solo to accomplish the same thing.

Ok folks -

Right click a track, choose select all tracks.

Click the mute button at the bottom. All tracks now muted.

Doesn't work for solo.

Can't imagine ever using either feature, despite the explanations.

I like that idea a lot. A quick key command would sure be hot.

Select all tracks, as above tip, and click on Mute/Unmute all filters, which will disable all VSTs.

Don't forget my FR - LOCK SOLO . It would make comping much easier! Then the solo button would allow you to quickly audition different takes of say a vocal track while allowing the LOCK SOLOED instrumental backing tracks to remain playing.

One thing Tracktion has always lacked for some reason, and should have is Shift-click selection of tracks.

Click a track, and then use Ctrl-Click to add others works, but Shift Click, where you click on track 1 (of 20) and then Shift Click track 15, and it selects tracks 1-15, that doesn't work, but really should do.

Most windows software has this functionality, I always expect it to work, even now.

Workaround for solo all:

Right click a track name, choose select all tracks. Use Ctrl Click to unselect one track. Hit the solo button down the bottom.

All except one tracks now solo-ed.
