I just have a question/suggestion as a non FL user. I only tried v5 demo, but I ve got some trouvble with snapping:
first it's the same in playlist and piano roll.
then I wav only able to use relative snap, no "snap to", if you insert a note without snap at a random place, then snap only make you move of the snap value, and not to the snap value. I m sure I missed something (even after some search), but those two points really make me afraid about the midi editing.

if you are talking about the piano roll, you can dblclick the note and change the midi information about the start time and length. Once you change it like this, that start point (of that edited note) becomes the basis of the new snap positions. I hope I was clear and that is what you wanted.

The problem comes in trying to work with audio. FL can't zoom in nearly enough to let me work with an audio clip the way I'd like to - it can zoom in WAAAY farther than I need for MIDI, but when it comes to slicing up and mangling audio, I need finer control and better room to see.

I don't know of that's what hoffy is referring to, though!

you can increase the ability to zoom in by increasing the timing resolution of your project - if you double the timebase (ppq) you can zoom in twice as far. of course you pay for it to some extent with higher cpu usage, but i do all my stuff at 192 ppq these days for this very reason.
this statement is unprovable

The best part of FL for me is it is the only other host besides buzz that can use Buzz machines! And it wraps! That alone had me interested, but I just can't get into it.
(I guess I still want a total buzz that will load as a vst and trigger patterns via midi notes... Oh well Guess I'll have to hold my breath).

Same.
Need more zoom.

gotta say that I don't believe FL was designed for being great at handling audio, it has a very barebones editor that comes with it....it's my understanding FL is designed for the electronic musician who doesn't rely heavily on live recording of audio, or uses many audio tracks. I do not see that as a downfall though...I believe that a good wav editor with FL is a great combo...in my case Adobe Audition. Which can be used as my default editor in FL (and is), and by the same token I can use FL rewired in AA...I think if the audio zoom is lacking for you in FL it might be wiser to get an editor as opposed to holding your breath and waiting...;)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

The audio tracks actaully completly confused me the first time I tried them.

(I keep bashing here but really I think FL is a great app :D It's just so close to being what I want and yet so far!)

Is there still no FL VST effect version? I'd buy that!!!! :D :D

You know what!? I bet something could be worked out with senderella!!!

Especially effective for hip hop production. I cherish it with all that I am!

Sure, just because FLS lack a few zoom levels, we will buy a 200$ editor.
Lol.
Other than that FLS audio handling is perfect to me (and it handles mp3, which i need).

If zoom is all you are missing look at audacity for free. I think it has it. Granted it's much handier if it were in FL instead.

But (i think), we didnt talk about audio editor, but about sound clips inside FLS (playlist)...

yes, I notice this trick, but isn't it just a workaround?? I mean shouldn't fruity be able to snap to time as all seqeuncers do? you lost lot of time by dbl clicking then precisely setting the not, that's a hole in the "intuitivness" of fruity to me. for me it's the #1 problem in this nice piano roll, and the reason wh I wouldn't buy it until it's fixed.

I know : These remarks usually come from people that want to see 'other stuff' happening but we only have 2 hands here.

With over 60.000 people using FL officially (and God knows how many others) it's impossible to make everyone happy.

See ya,

I'm very happy too. I think the generators/FX are great. I just can't think of any others i would want so the 'other stuff' jumps higher on my wish list.

Speaking of included generators, any chance of the Fruity Granulizer becoming a VSTi?
