Thay were Christian rock. I remember totally losing interest in them when I heard that.

What about the Replacements, or are they too successful?
If you have requests for Korg VST features or changes, they are listening at https://support.korguser.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

Howard Devoto. Ulrich Schnauss. XTC (yep, I agree there). Probably a bit early to mention this chap - reforming? Frank Black (plus you could probably put the Pixies here as well) - I just hope he/they don't disappear without a trace. Oh! and the Sparks!
Windows 10. Asus X99-Pro i7 6950X 10 Core 3GHz (Overclocked to 3.5GHz). Corsair DDR4 64GB Vengeance LPX 2400MHz. RME RayDAT. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970. UAD2 Quad+Octo. Reaper. A couple of plugins.

The Sparks!

How about Blancmange? In the states we didn't get too much exposure to them.

Would that be Peter Hammill of van der Graaf Generator fame?? I remember seeing them in Leeds when I was about 15 - fantastic live band.

Yup indeed.

Yeah - I found out too (although titles like "I still believe" and "the walls came down" ought to give it away), but they were great.
I saw them live once, and we were only about 25 in the audience. They looked completely shocked when they came out to an empty room, but then they looked at each other and shrugged and decided to give everything. So we got an amazing 2 1/2 hour full-on concert, with encores and the whole bit. For that heroic effort alone, they deserve not to be forgotten. :)

Judging from most of the bands listed in this thread, the very fact that I ever liked them seems to have cursed them into obscurity. Um, vurt: I apologize in advance...

I'd also add Quantum Jump, Rupert Hine's little project in the mid 70's. One single and 2 LPs. RH was a producer really, but the 2 QJ albums are just excellent, and it's a shame he didn't keep it all going.
agree on all three! :-D

(have both QJ on vinyl :-D - oh and b.t.w.: Thinkman, anyone? ;-))

They are legends, just on a fairly small scale... at least for the rabiate zealots*) that follow all things Tortoise, The For Carnation, Papa M etc.

Paul Westerberg probably doesn't think so.

I was just listening to 'Androgynous' from "Let it Be"

What a great songwriter.

Oh, and I have to do the obligatory My band led off for them numerous times in 81-83 bit of self promotion.

Of course we sucked bad, but that gives an indication of just how few punk rock bands there were in the twin cities back then.

Today you can't go outside without seeing a member of a punk band.

And most of them suck as well.

Its a dead scene here these days.

sigh....
