Tracktion Software

I am running traction 2, and when importing audio wav files, they play back at a very fast speed. When exporting traction files to a .wav file they play back at an extreamly slow speed.

Example projects in T2 also play back too fast. I have tried differnt sample rates etc. but with no success.

Any help would be much appreciated.

From where did these wav files you are importing come and with what are you listening to the exported wav files?

mac or PC? What drivers are you using? Do you have any other audio software running at the same time?

Using PC running WindowsXP Pro. Using most upto date drivers for the Mackie Spike. No other audio software running along side.

The imported .wav files are from a CD, and i've tried using various players to listen to the exported files, including Windows Media player, Real player and quicktime player.

From an audio CD @ 16/44? or from a data disc?

If the first, how did you extract the audio? Did you use Tracktion?

If the second, what happens if you play the files before importing into Tracktion? Do they play at the correct speed then?

What sample rate are you running the Spike at? Have you selected the Spike's ASIO drivers in the settings page?

I've tried importing from an audio disc, using traction, and they play back fast even when previewing the file with traction.

The spike is running at 48kHz In and Out, and traction is set up to ASIO mode.

Any reason you're running at 48KHz? try 44.1 instead..

Sorry the xd2 is running at 48khz
traction is running at 44100 khz

whats an xd2, and how does it fit into this setup? If you have linked to another device using digital I/O of some sort, you will need all devices to run at the same rate, in this case 44.1KHz (CD quality)

By Xd2 i was refering to MACKIE Xd2 Spike powered recording system which connects into the usb of my pc

No, its a sample rate issue. Set everything to 44.1KHz and you should be fine.

To be honest, if you have ASIO drivers selected I don't see how it is possible for you be running Tracktion at a different samplerate to the Spike: they should be locked to the same clock.

Just looked at the Spike software and it is Maximum
sample rate mode 48 khz as a default setting

doesn't matter what the maximum or default settings are: audio CDs use 44.1KHz, so thats what you need to use too.
