A quick shout to the beta testers.
Thanks for doing a great job.
There's a new beta up as of this morning.
Most importantly...
If you've got it working (and recording) could you please send some setup screenshots to beta@chordspace.com The biggest problem people are having is with routing. I'd like to publish a pictorial setup for each host.

Does SE actually support using instruments as midi inputs?CypherOne wrote:It doesn't show up in Cubase SE either sadly...I'm able to pick it as a VSTi, but when I try and select it in a midi channel it doesn't show in the list.
Its working fine in SX3.

dunno, I've never tried this sort of thing before. Typical of me to have retardware tho...Rozzer wrote:Does SE actually support using instruments as midi inputs?CypherOne wrote:It doesn't show up in Cubase SE either sadly...I'm able to pick it as a VSTi, but when I try and select it in a midi channel it doesn't show in the list.

This is indeed great fun! I've currently got it hooked up in eXT with a MIDI filter to split the lower notes off, transpose them down an octave and send them via an arpeggiator to a bass synth with the higher notes going to a pad synth with some chorus and phaser added - much sonic niceness at the click of a mouse
Now for the dreaded feature request - would it be possible to have a "hold" button to sustain the current notes while I move my mouse to the next hexagram? I know I could capture the MIDI output in a sequencer and then stretch the note lengths to fill the gaps (or learn to move around the screen faster!) but it would be more playable with the hold feature.
Nice piece of work either way - with this, EnergyXT, DK+ or Jamstix and the hopefully soon to be available rhythm guitar pattern sequencer (see http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=96579 for details) the day of the single key press song is upon us
Regards,
Derek.

Well yes, I mean obviously I could do that couldn't Inuffink wrote:Just keep the button held down while you move the mouse.Derek up North wrote: Now for the dreaded feature request - would it be possible to have a "hold" button to sustain the current notes while I move my mouse to the next hexagram?
(I've just written the word "hold" on my left mouse button - consider my feature request satisfied
I've emailed you a screenshot from EnergyXT showing you how I set it up. After sending that I added a sequencer component in to capture the output and it worked absolutely fine (as expected). No time to try now but I can have a stab at Tracktion later today.

Derek.

There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

GaryG: Cool, and I agree that this isn't the usual SE stuff. :-)
I'm considering getting eXT -- if ChordSpace can be used in it. Anyone having success with this combination?

I really think that a way other than manually clicking each hexagon is needed. At least a way ro record the sequence of mouse clicks a resulting midi data wouldgo a long way towards making this a composing tool.
CAn anyone tell me how to set this up in Live btw.

Very much so - trivial to setup (add Chordspace to the eXT workspace, add a sequencer component, connect the MIDI out from Chordspace to the MIDI in on the sequencer, add your favourite VSTi, click "record" on the sequencer and off you go).Meffy wrote:GaryG: Cool, and I agree that this isn't the usual SE stuff.

That's the simple version - see my earlier post in this thread for something a bit more fun

im trying to get it to work in live 5 right now gordon ... but its a no go so far ...Beardedone wrote:CAn anyone tell me how to set this up in Live btw.
... ive started a thread on the ableton forum asking for help but i suspect (sadly) that although live allows routing of MIDI between tracks / plugins it DOESNT like VST plugins that produce their own MIDI output ...
... will keep you (and nuffink) updated on any progress ...

if it is not the case yet, each hexagone should be linked to a midi note. sorry if i say something stupid here, i'll see tonight if i can betatest it in FLS.
(many thanks to ouroboros for his PM and jmh for his post on the last page).

ChordSpace works fine with eXT. Doesn't work with Renoise.
I wish there was MIDI input or some way to trigger back what has been recorded in eXT to ChordSpace, to see what hexagons you actually pushed, because once it's in the recorder, I have no way of knowing what it is unless I write it down in some kind of secret hexagon code and you know I don't have a pen and even if I did I don't have any paper either.
