Dunno how many of you have stumbled onto this, but the LFX-1013 is a really cool multi-effect VST, and it works quite nicely in Tracktion, even on my lowly Celeron 1.33Ghz laptop.
I just thought I'd pass along the find, since you all have been gracious with your help, as well as lightning quick to respond.
Thanks!!!

p.s. Also, the PODxt from Line6 works super well with it's ASIO driver inside of Tracktion, and it allows the signal to remain all digital without being reconverted, and also allows for easy "re-amping".
Very cool tool, in case anyone has an XT. [/url]

Polaris, the LFX1310 (or 1013) won the 2004 favorite freebie effect in the KVR member survey. It's one of my favorites as well.

I have a Line6 Pod but it is not the XT. Should I expect the same results when using it with traction?
Just trying to learn about recording, that is if my head is not too hard.

Not exactly. While the tone of the original is great, it doesn't have the USB connectivity that the XT has, which is what allows it to act as a sound card itself, using an ASIO driver and also allowing the re-amping all through the USB connection.MarioC wrote:I have a Line6 Pod but it is not the XT. You also might want to look at the Line 6 GuitarPort. Around US$99.

I have a Guitar Port and use it all of the time in T2. The LX vst is great sounding but it crashes everything if I switch presets while T2 is playing. I have to stop the transport, switch presets and then hit play again, otherwise I get a serious CPU spike. As per the LX's sounds, I wish there were more free plugs like it.

Really? I was looking into to one for travel purposes, and also jamming on my lunchbreak with my laptop.Mauvehead wrote:I have a Guitar Port and use it all of the time in T2.
So the amp models come through ok in T2? Can you do re-amping with it? Have you tried it with T1.x (This is what I am still on)?
I have been looking all over for people that used GP in conjunction with Tracktion, but up until now hadn't thought to actually ask at a Tracktion forum {duh}!
For $99, if it's anywhere near as good as the XT, it should blow the doors off of Guitar Rig or Amplitube.

It works pretty good for me. Same notion -- portability. I keep it in my backpack along with my Oxygen8 and I can do a lot of tracking that way. I also have Guitar Rig as well as Amplitube (can you tell I'm a guitar player?) and honestly I like all of them about the same. For Amplitibe and Guitar Rig I have a GuitarPort patch set-up that is empty so that any signal that passes through GP is bare naked. I know that Guitar Rig doesn't have as many core amp models as the GP, however I really prefer Guitar Rig's Mic and Cab parameters and sounds. I haven't tried re-amping with GP yet, so I'll defer that question to someone else. And no I haven't had any experience with T1. I didn't get into Tracktion until T2 came out.
The GP is handy for sure. The next item on the list is a Presonus Firebox. I have a Firepod and want to add a Firebox for the backpack rig. I love plugging the guitar straight into the Firepod when using amp sim vst's. It sounds better than the GP in my opinion, but it's $400. Still......

I actually have an Oxygen 8 as well. How does it work in regards to latency with the ASIO driver on the GP? I imagine pretty decent, otherwise you wouldn't still be using it.Mauvehead wrote:It works pretty good for me. Same notion -- portability. If I'm tracking then I usually get away with around 5 - 6 ms of latency on the GP or the Firepod. The Oxygen8 never gives me any problems in that regard. Bear in mind that I'm not a keyboard player and my expectations for any keys is probably pretty lax. I just like the Oxygen8 because of the controller knobs, good drivers, pitch bend wheel, and it fits in the backpack along with the laptop. It's funny watching peoples' faces when they see mee whip all the gear out of the bag. I even have an electric Traveler guitar that's been hot-rodded with a Duncan JB Jr. It smokes. Nothing like portable convenience. That is why I want to get a Firebox. Best sounding mic pre's I've heard in a unit that price.I actually have an Oxygen 8 as well. Yeah I'm not a keyboard player either, just use it for simple piano, string, synth stuff, but nothing like Dream Theater.Mauvehead wrote:If I'm tracking then I usually get away with around 5 - 6 ms of latency on the GP or the Firepod. polaris - any chance you could give a quick overview of how things are set up to do reamping ?polaris20 wrote:Not exactly.
