could you imagine the fragmentation after every dev/musician got hold of it?

I'm trying not to. I do suspect something would be lost from the Tracktion 'workflow' though.

I'm a big fan of open-source, but when it comes to UIs the approach is not without problems.

It's like having a hardware equipement that power off after 30mn of work until you plug a special resistor delivered by the manufacturer to unlock the thing. (oh god, bad idea I'm giving!)
