So we've mostly determined that this is a 2 year long running joke lol. Midiworks just needs to come back and give us a "Well the website only has another couple months of work to be done!" and we'll be set for another 2-3 years haha.

i think midiworks was serious but other things may have distracted him from his work.
The toneheaded site IS serious and soon we will be offering 500 very high quality presets for Amplitube 1, details are still being worked out, site developed, etc.

Who needs presets for a guitar amp? I'd never even think about spending a penny for such stuff, especially considering Amplitube 1 has a pretty much limited featureset.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

Judging from the amount of email and PMs i get from people still wanting those original 57 presets i posted here on KVR years ago, quite a few.Sascha Franck wrote:Who needs presets for a guitar amp?
Funny, some people say the same thing about music software in general...As for who would purchase them. People who want 500 great famous sounds a click away.I'd never even think about spending a penny for such stuff, especially considering Amplitube 1 has a pretty much limited featureset.
And limited compared to what? It's a virtual amplifier that does what it does very well. Not to mention Amplitube 2 is coming out and will be a huge improvement over 1 which still in many people's opinion does guitar better than any of its competition. Even some Pod owners... hey i have a Pod XT too so I know what a 'limited featureset' is I also know Line 6 offers new presets for a price.
Hasn't stopped them from selling many Pods or presets and Amplitube did well for IK.

Release will be last quater 2005 !
Just a quick view of our recent work.

Most of the controls are not visibe yet.
The knob layout will be different in the end too.
All I want is that you will get the best amp, with a great distortion and feel there is.
A Mac OSX version is also on the horizon !
But as you probably guess, it will take some time...

I think presets are fine for a jumping-off point. I never (or rarely! I cannot lie!) use a straight-up preset from Green Machine Amp II, but I usually cycle through tones that I know are "close" and then tweak from there.
That doesn't mean I NEVER just build from the ground up, and sometimes the 'tweaking' is so extreme that it might as well have been a 'ground-up' creation after all, but I DO think that presets have their time and place, too.

I find it in rather bad taste; some people seem obsessed with making money at every turn.veseli koljac wrote:you mean bad jokechampionrabbit wrote:Selling presets is a joke IMO.![]()
