Finally tracked downa copy of the Mag nly to find that my 'original' Athlon is not compatible with the freebie (Athlon XP is with a patch but older Athlons just plain are not). This is not documented anywhere in the mag or the demo setup or readme file yet Computer Music will not refund - so anyone who is running an old Athlon (which thinking about it you probably are not - just me stuck in the year 2000 !) and who was going to buy the mag purely for the freebie - don't !

MAKE SURE the DD-55 is on the default "00" kit!

Cheers AndrewSimon - I've had ago with your midi ox presets and they are most useful in helping to make sense of midi ox.
I've come to the conclusion that until the hi-hat can be succesfully remapped to another pad using the default dd55 kit, the best kit I can come up with is simply by using the midi panel in BFD and not using midi ox at all.
If anyone is interested I could post my custom bfd program file for use with yamaha dd55 - no midi ox or midi yoke required.

We are aware of this problem and will try and fix it eventually. Unfortunately the number of users of Thunderbird-era Athlons is really really small, so this isn't a massively-high priority fix for us. Nevertheless we will try and fix it when we have a spare moment.timmyo wrote:Finally tracked downa copy of the Mag nly to find that my 'original' Athlon is not compatible with the freebie (Athlon XP is with a patch but older Athlons just plain are not). Meanwhile, you guys might be interested in checking out the manual for BFD 1.5, to see what goodies you can expect if you buy the full version of BFD...

I've made a guide for using the Yamaha DD-55 together with BFD and other VST drum kits.

Anyone seen this in the US yet? Here's to hoping it comes a bit early! I do use DR-008 very loyally. But seeing as it's the same company, and it's drums, I want to see what BFD can do for me that DR-008 can't. Or if I should wait for Drum-Nine. Any word on that yet from FXpansion?

got the cm89... the bfd demo is very good. i wasn't so impressed by the audio demos on the fxpansion pages before for some reason but tweaking and playing the little limited kit did it for me.
i would probably be cursing about not having money to buy the full version any time soon but the fact is that my laptop is having hard time even with the demo (and my hd is almost full) so i'll probably have to wait until i upgrade my system... oh well. maybe sometime next year.

If you switch off the animations, it won't make your GPU sweat.
This account is dormant, I am no longer employed by FXpansion / ROLI.

Coolio. Makes the $21.95 (CDN) a non-issue now; whereas before it seemed like a small risk. Danged UK mags. There are more UK offerings with cover discs in general (PC Plus, etc. often have other non-music freebies that are good value) but to pay the extra for import just makes you feel like you're buying an actual product of some sort and not just some magazine.Angus_FX wrote:If you switch off the animations, it won't make your GPU sweat.

Weekend of boomer-eating has kept me from looking into B&K's hallowed halls. Anyone see it on the shelf in the US yet?
