are you thinking of getting one, or do you have one already?

i own a firepod and just traded mine in for a new one because 2 preamps busted because i bought a display model, anyways... I run my entire business around it, the preamps kick butt, no need for a mixer anymore. i strongly suggest it.
heres a link to a band I just recorded w/ t2 and firepod (theyre ska, sorry. Im no fan of ska but listen to the quality, i barely had to EQ or anything)

Thanks for the replies...no, I don't have the Firepod yet but have been looking at replacing my Roland 1680-based studio with it. For now I'm flying tracks into Tracktion for improved mixing/mastering.

I bought a Firepod to gradually replace my VS-1680 as well. I think the mic-pre's on the Firepod are nothing short of excellent. They are hard to describe other than "just right". And they are dead quiet even when using higher gain settings. They sound way better than the 1680's pre's. I never did like the 1680's pre's. At any rate, the Firepod's drivers are great and it always runs smooth and without a hitch. I can't recommend the Firepod enough. Also, at the summer NAMM show I talked with two Presonus guys about the upcoming drivers that will enable two (or more?) Firepods to be linked together. They said the beta drivers are working out real well and they hope to release them soon. I wouldn't mind having another Firepod on hand. And I hope to get a Firebox soon to slip into the backpack. Go for it.

I know this is probably opening up a can of worms, I dont want to say certain things are better than others or whatever, but I would recommend the Edirol UA-1000 (its USB2 not firewire though). But, unfortunantly its only got 4 preamps (they are roland pres, but sound VERY VERY nice). I use it and its a very powerful piece of hardware.
